[glow=pink]Auvergne, France, Lestat de Lioncourt was notorious for his liaisons with the women in the town. He frequented bars, taverns, and even more feverishly, frequented young ladys' bedrooms. He was often chased out the next morning by their father, or brother, or perhaps husband. But Lestat’s reputation exceeded him. He was often times requested to return. But once he had forgotten about each of his conquests, they were entirely forgotten. Most women, he could not even remember their names.
Larkin de Valois was born in Nice, France in 1984. She had a very limited knowledge of her bloodline, and also a very limited knowledge of the world around her. A very intelligent girl with a flair for the dramatics, Larkin engaged in dance classes when she was a meager four years old. Those dance classes continued all throughout her middle and high school, and far into college.
When Larkin was a young child, she also exhibited a strange sense of danger. Often putting herself into strange positions, her mother and father began to keep a much closer eye on her. She enjoyed running into the street. She did not want to be killed, but rather wanted to challenge the cars to attempt and hurt her. They never did. She also had a love for large dogs. Her mother once bought her a tiny dog, and she immediately rejected it. But the moment they purchased a mastiff, it was love.
Something else struck her parents as very interesting. Larkin, even as a baby, always responded to classical music. She loved Mozart the best and violin music more. She was horrible at playing, though she had attempted it. No, ballet was her forte and she relished in every moment of her talent.
As most young girls do, Larkin grew up. And as she grew up, she began to experience life fuller and fuller. With that, came romance. Larkin fell in love. He was young, brunette, and had the most piercing brown eyes she had ever seen. He was not very handsome. He was pretty. He was almost delicate. And he had a passion for the arts nearly as intense and strong as hers. They supported one another as one would expect for a couple to support one another, but eventually, her lover began to realize something: Her talent far exceeded his. He left her, in a jealous rage.
The moment Larkin graduated from college, she was offered a ticket to the United States and an offer to dance for the New York City ballet. She attempted it for a time, but soon joined a touring cast of Swan Lake. The ballet took her to New Orleans, where she struck a strange sort of chord. This felt like home. This felt like where she belonged. Leaving the ballet and joining the local professional company, Larkin settled down in the French Quarter, content to finally have left her roaming life behind.
She has never read a single book by Anne Rice.
