[Flashback In A Dream - Ten Years Ago] She was already running out of the back door of the Library when she heard in her earpiece, “Get out of there Cass!” The explosion sent her hurling through the air. Her head hit something hard. Then she was weightless. Someone was carrying her as her body hung limp and her long blonde hair swung back and forth. “Everything is going to be alright, Love. I can’t fix you. Zeus won’t allow it. The good doctors will have to suffice. I must leave you now. I am in deep shit with my father.” Apollo gently touched her cheek and then laid her down at the hospital door. Her eyes fluttered open to see him smiling down at her and then he disappeared.

[Present Day]
Ten years ago Beth was found at the hospital door. She had a few burn injuries and a severe head wound. She recovered but she suffers from amnesia. When she was found she had no ID and she was wearing a black bodysuit with matching gloves and boots. With no money or no family to stay with the nurses gave her the name Beth and told her about the women's shelter. She got a job and saved her money until she could get her own place. Now she has everything she needs. She still keeps in touch with the nurses that helped her when she needed it. She lives at an apartment building called Brook Side. Where the rent is cheap and the neighborhood is friendly. She is living a happy normal life with no knowledge of supernatural beings that exist in real life.

[Walking Home]
Shadows began to grow and stretch across the ground. Night fall was fast approaching. Beth was carrying a brown bag of groceries home and wearing a simple blue sundress and sandals she had gotten from the thrift store. She had her earbuds in while listening to Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits and smiling, feeling happy that she could sleep in tomorrow morning. The air was a little humid. She could smell fresh cut grass at the park close by. A small puppy had followed her from the store and if no one claimed him she would take him. The puppy looked like a black lab. She bent down to pet the puppy and was startled when she felt a touch on her shoulder. Turning around quickly, she plucked the earbuds out and saw a man dressed in biker clothes. He had long black hair and emerald green eyes. He looked at her in a way that made her uncomfortable. He closed his eyes and sniffed the air. “Vanilla and cherries.” He whispered in an accent she couldn’t place in that moment. “Ah, no.” Beth said politely, looking into her grocery bag. “Grapes.” The man smiled and stepped closer, invading her space. “Excuse me, please. I’m on my way home,” Beth said as her heart began to beat faster. The stranger ignored her words and gently lifted her chin so that their eyes met. For a long breathy moment they stayed like that. She could hear her own heart beating inside her head as he seemed to be able to look inside her mind. The grocery sack fell to the ground. His eyes danced over her face, his brows drawn in confusion. He released her chin and placed his cold hand on hers. His thumb feathered across her wrist where her pulse was thrumming now that sent a sharp thrill up her midsection. She began to sway and he placed a steely arm around her waist to steady her. He brought her open palm up to his lips where he kissed it very softly and then lower, where he kissed her wrist , giving her chills going up her spine. Cassandra gulped as he turned her hand over and kissed the top of her knuckles, his lips lingering as he stared into her eyes. She felt a tiny pinch. Her mouth was suddenly dry. She couldn’t move or speak. They stayed like that for what seemed like an eternity. He lowered her hand slowly and released her as he took a small step backward. Cassandra blinked as if someone snapped their fingers in front of her face. She gulped again and licked her dry lips. "W-what happened?" She asked with a dazed expression. “Bonne nuit, jolie femme.” He said as his eyes lingered on her face one last time before he pivoted on his heel and walked away. She stood frozen as she watched him walk away to meet up with some other man with longish blonde hair at the park. They chatted a few minutes and the blonde man spat out, " Talamasca!" Both turned simultaneously to look at her before getting on their motorcycles and leaving the park. At this point she didn't care to know what they were talking about. Cassandra picked up her grocery bag and quickened her steps to get home as she wondered what the hell just happened. The puppy ran after her.

"Shut your pie hole!" Gretchen whispered aloud. Rufus frowned but did as she said. "I'm sorry if I'm being such a raging bitch." She apologized. They were on an important mission and she didn't want to mess this up. It was her first time out in the field. Rufus grinned, "Don't be nervous. We got this. Just stay focused. I'm right here with you." He said from behind the couch. "Right." She said crouched against the wall, next to the front door. And then, she could hear the jingling of keys. The door unexpectedly slammed open, knocking Gretchen backwards. "Oh!" She shouted. "Oh my god!" Cassandra yelled in surprise and dropped the grocery sack again. The puppy jumped all over Gretchen and licked her face. "Get it off me!” Gretchen shrieked. Cassandra began to call 911 and out of her peripheral vision she saw Rufus stand up from behind the couch. He raised his tranquilizer gun and without warning fired a dart at her. Instinctively, Cassandra raised her arms to shield herself. The dart stopped moving and hung in midair. “She’s using her powers!” Rufus shouted and came towards her. Cassandra picked up a lamp and knocked it over the man's head. She turned to run out of the door when something sharp pierced her in the back of the thigh. The phone came out of her hand as she felt a surge of drugs coursing through her veins. The floor tilted and she staggered with it. She dropped to her knees, feeling the drug pull her down and down further. Her eyes rolled in the back of her head. She heard the puppy yelp, accompanied with a loud audible crack. “No.” She whispered as a tear slid down her cheek. Cassandra fell over onto the floor, knocked out cold. "911 what's your emergency?" Gretchen stomped her foot, crushing the phone. She smiled with red glossy lips. “We got the subject. You can check her off the list.” She called into the walkie.
