Cassandra Oliver. Her long blond hair was twisted up in a neat french knot, wearing a smart black pant suit with matching high heels. Legs crossed, gently swaying her foot back and forth as she looked over the specifications of there next assignment. The file she held in her hands was marked "Confidential". Her. Being a trainee, in the line of field work, was the newest member of the Talamasca. Accompanying her, was none other than the best of the best. He sat across from her in his tailor made grey suit, smoking an expensive cigar while speaking loudly on his cellular telephone over the noise of the rotor blades. It was hard not to eavesdrop on his conversation with the Superior General. He shouted directions to the pilot of the exact location they needed to arrive. Her uncle. Stirling Oliver. A long time member and not a stranger to the ever famous Vampires and Mayfair Witches of New Orleans. This particular assignment had actually been dorment until recently an anonymous tip sparked the elders interest to give it ago once again. The disclosure of the contents within the file contain information about missing Taltos. Possibly ones who had branched off Ash Templeton's bloodline or perhaps another. There is no solid facts to state that Ash Templeton had been the only Taltos to breed there existence since Lasher. For example....a male and female Mayfair...could mate.....and concieve a Taltos or to what they sometimes refer to as....walking babies, without actually mating with a Taltos. Due to the double helix, or 92 chromosomes within the Mayfair's DNA, it 's quite possible for a supernatural birth to take place.(Which has occured before.) Not all Mayfair's reside within New Orleans and not all within the USA. Keeping track of the Mayfair's and Taltos history and where abouts seems to have been the Talamascas buisness from the very beginning. And so it continues............ "How much further till we reach our destination?" She shouted across to Stirling then glanced at her watch. It seemed to be stuck at 5:35 p.m. Strange. She knew it was wound properly and it was brand new. "Not much further." Stirling shouted back. She could see land as she looked through the small window. They seemed to be traveling for hours but now they were getting close. All she knew for sure at this moment was that they were to arrive at the Bahamas where a car would await to take them to a mansion where the supposed Taltos lived. A metallic taste in the back of her throat. Her ears began to ring. The atmosphere changed around them. She felt sick to her stomach. "Stirling? I think.....I think something's wrong."

They were in the bounderies of the Bermuda Triangle now. Of course. Strange things have been reported that happened while crossing over. He too felt what she was feeling, that and the fact he read her mind, knowing she was growing with alarm. "Not to worry. We'll be in the clearing soon." He gave a reassuring smile.
The helicopter shifted abruplty as if going over a speed bump. Cassandra lost her grip on the file and papers went everywhere as Stirling damn near fell out of his seat. Turbulance? "WE'ER LOSING POWER!" The pilot shouted. "WE'ER GOING DOWN!" Stirling jumped up and hurriedly went to the pilot. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE ARE GOING DOWN!" The pilot flipped switches and checked gauges. "WE HAVE LOST POWER! RADIO EQUIPMENT IS DEAD! BACK UP POWER IS FAILING!" No. This could not be happening! But it was...
They were free falling. Descending at a rate that made his stomach hit rock bottom. There was no time to think. Everything was happening within a matter of seconds. "CASSANDRA!" He turned back to see her terrified expression. Stirling took her trembling hand and jerked her to her feet. Both breathing heavy. Scared shitless at the thought of dieing. He yanked the door open. Papers went flying in every direction. The pressure of the wind trying to push them back as it strongly whipped around them. "COME ON!" He shouted to the pilot. "WE HAVE TO JUMP!" The pilot ignored him and continued to flip switches and try the radio. Stirling could see at the rate they were falling, if they didn't jump now they would be trapped inside when they crashed. No doubt they would die from the impact. "TAKE A COUPLE OF DEEP BREATHS AND JUMP OUT AS FAR AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THE HELICOPTER!" A heartbeat passed then two. Hand in hand they pushed off the edge and jumped.....
Falling.......weightless.........One last breath..........
Feet first. Twin splashes. Down, down into the coolness of the ocean. A sound disturbed the deafness under the depths of the water. Stirling quickly fought his way back up. Just above him he could see the light where the sun touched the surface. He shot up and sucked in a much needed breath of air. Cassandra came up coughing, her eyes wildly looking around. Both treading water. "Are you alright?" She nodded. "Swim away." Stirling instructed. They had to swim away from the helicopter wreakage lest they be sucked under.
"Wait. Which direction should we go?" Cassandra asked. Stirling paused as he took a moment to looked around. There were two shore lines. One to the east and one to the west. "Let's go west." A solitary voice inside his head told him there was life on the west side. Being a powerful telepathic person he could sence these things.
20 minutes later.....
Land. Finally. Out of breath. Walking up onto the beach they both turned around to see the helicopter had submerged completely under the water. The sky was turning a pinkish purple. Sunset. "What do you propose we do now?" Cassandra asked as they sat upon the sandy ground to rest. Stirling thought of the pilot who had just died. Close call for him and Cassandra both. Wasn't the first time he had brushed against death.
"Well." Stirling said as he looked at there surroundings which were not unfavourable environmental conditions. "For one we are not on an isolated island. I know there's life here." Looking around, palm trees swaying gently in the warm tropical breeze. Behind that was a woodys type area with tall plants, bushes, ferns and flowers. "There. You see? A path. Looks like it's been walked across many times." If he hadn't been looking closely enough it would have been easily over looked as if it wasn't meant to be found.
"Come on." Stirling helped Cassandra to her bare feet. She'd lost her shoes in the ocean and her hair was now uncoiled and hanging down her back. "If we follow the path we should be able to find people who reside on this island." They began to walk towards the path. Soaked from head to toe. It was getting dark and they needed to find shelter soon. "Uncle Stirling? Tell me more about the Taltos." She hadn't called him uncle since she was a little girl. Perhaps she needed a distraction from her thoughts from what they had just experienced. Perhaps he did too.......
They were now walking deeper along the path. "Ah, where to begin?...." He paused. Was that a sound to the right of him? Continuing..."The Talamasca knows the complexities of Taltos..." There it was again. He turned. Cassandra gasped. "What is it?"
"Nothing....just the wind." They traveled onward and Stirling began again. "As I was saying....some complexities are not to be over looked." A pair of eyes, glittering like jewels. Looking. Right. At. Him.
"Such as?" She asked. "Such as?" Cassandra stopped in midstep. "Stirling?" Looking around. "STIRLING!"
Vanished.....

Sleep.....
Deep into the death sleep I lay, my body covered in the sand of my little private Island, a shallow coffin of sorts, only two feet to the rays of the sun, but they couldn't, wouldn't touch me as I am far too expertise in the art of escaping the death rays of the sun. And as I slept I dreamt. Yes, vampires do dream in their sleep. Even the most newly born, or perhaps I should say, especially those newly born. Fledglings so confused by their new and monstrous existence, their dreams haunt them all through their sleeping hours. Only worsening when they awaken at nightfall. For our dreams never cease, and for a newborn vampire, those dreams can be nightmares, quite literally relived each night only to return when the moonbeams replace the rays of the sun, and seek out that which died and should be dead, but remains unchangeable and unaffected, as years quickly turn into decades, and decades suddenly becoming centuries.
Ah, but I had the chance, had the chance to end it all. Indeed, I was at death's door the night my son took me into the darkness with him. From my very death bed I arose, in blue silk and brocade taffeta. Dressed like Queen Marie Antionette ready for the ball, for my precious Lestat, the sweetest apple of my eye. The one and only being in my mortal life I never regretted. But then....pish posh! What care I for regrets! Were I a mortal woman I should be covered from head to two with horrid fine wrinkles from such regrets! No my dears, regrets are quite the thing of the past for me. What I long for now, what I have always longed for is the very thing that quickens my sweet sons heart, what makes his eyes sparkle with mischief and makes him once again a mortal boy with a heart of gold, and a future he had thought would be filled with excitement and the wondrous applause of an audience. And all did come as he had wished, for now he has more adventures and excitement in his immortal life, than he ever dreamt possible when he was but a mortal boy filled with dreams of goodness and adventures as he has so told in pages upon pages of delightful and adventurous tales.
Hmmm...what a concept, I thought as I smiled, the very action enlivening all senses to my preternatural limbs. My lips enlivening the dark blood within the veins of my face and I could feel these veins awaken as they traveled down my throat, to my breasts which suddenly heaved upwards causing my back to arch and lift me quite daintily up and out of the ground. The sand easily cascading off my shoulders and down my buxom bosom. With hands rising up into the air, I quickly swirled about in a frenzy. Sand flying off to my sides as I easily removed every bit of sand from my body. Then flying quickly to the middle of my Island, I hovered under the waterfall, loving the feel of the fresh cool water tripping down my hair, face and shoulders. The feeling so sensuous it hardened my taut nipples. Then taking a quick dive into the water, I swam to the very depths, my eyes wide opened as I marveled at the sea creatures, quickly swimming away and making way for me and my preternaturally lithe figure. It seemed like hours passed as I swam and enjoyed the leisure of my solidarity.
While I lay atop the back of a large tree trunk of one of the tallest trees on my Island, my preternatural eyes mesmerized by a blanket of twinkling stars high above me, and yet so seemingly close that I subconsciously held my breath, marveling at the beauty of the night. A familiar voice came rushing to my ears....
"CASSANDRA! COME ON! WE HAVE TO JUMP! TAKE A COUPLE OF DEEP BREATHS AND JUMP OUT AS FAR AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THE HELICOPTER!"
Quickly I flew off the tree and to a heavy iron trunk where I kept my clothing and other articles whilst on my Island. Seconds later I flew across the vastness of the open sea covering many miles in mere minutes. The sound of a helicopter crashing into the dark water, quickly I looked for the familiar voice that had resounded into my ears. But alas, I found nothing but the burning remains of the mechanical bird. It's pilot, badly burned and floating nearby.
As I hovered over the wreckage, I contemplated just what could have happened here, and then before another thought could happen into my head, a deep and sensuous voice once again sent shivers all through my body. Laughing wickedly, with preternatural peals of bells ringing through the night air, I quickly flew to the direction of that wonderful voice.
Seconds later I came upon another Island, much bigger than my own. And quite thicker in jungle vegetation than mine has ever been, and through the large leafed plants, once again came the voice of a sweet and delectable past.
"Nothing....just the wind." He said in reply to his young female companion, and as he continued on his in scholarly teachings to his young student. I flew down from the sky and easily swept him off his feet, my sapphire yes glittering like blue diamonds lost at sea.
"Mon amour" I seductively whispered into his ear....my heart racing at a speed that would have killed a mere mortal, "Mon Dieu my love, what on earth were you doing on that helicopter, and why? Might I ask...are you on this dreadful Island, when mine is so much more....soothing to the senses." I asked him as I lightly caressed his rough chin with my silken lips, he was just about to answer my question when I spotted a dwelling up ahead, in fact...on further observation, it is a castle! A very ancient looking one at that, not nearly horrid as the Castle in Transylvania in which Dracula is rumored to have lived. If he even ever existed. I smiled at the thought, the mere thought of the fictional Dracula was always a source of bewildered amusement to those of my kind.
Lightly I landed us on our feet on one of the taller towers, away from all the lights which were beaming out of the large windows. The night breeze billowing my long and golden locks, the moon above us illuminating my skin, the heat of my mortal lover quickening every breath in my preternatural body. Silently and with a slight and demure smile, I looked up at Stirling, and whispered softly.
"Do you think this old place has a bedchamber, or shall we simply go down to the beach and indulge in our passions as we once did on my own Island?"
**Gabrielle's and Stirling's Thread continued at the Castle **

_____Alone. In the dark. With nothing but the moonlight that illuminated the path through the woods. Her clothes were soaked from the plunge she and Stirling made into the ocean. It wasn't too bad since the breeze was warm. Carefully she stepped as her bare feet touched the ground. She had lost her shoes in the water as well. Cassandra began to listen hard for any sound that would indicate Stirling's presence."Stirling?" She whispered. He couldn't have gone far. Maybe he was relieving himself but then again he wouldn't have just up and left without saying word. Something wasn't right. Slipping through the trees.....so quiet. Yes, he'd told her to stay on the path but he wasn't there to tell her what do now was he? She moved on further. Pushing low branches out of her way. Fallen leaves crunched under her feet. An owl hooted. Cassandra just about jumped out of her skin! It sat on a tree limb staring down at her. "Well hello. Don't supose you could tell me which direction Stirling went?" The owl turned it's head around reminding her of the little girl that was possessed in the movie exorcist. "Thanks for nothing." She sighed and continued on moving under some branches that were interlocked over head. A shrub here and there she stepped over until....something. She stummbled and fell on a lump that had been covered with leaves. Oh the smell! Pushing up with her hands quick as possible, a big section of the leaves gaveway to reveil a most horrific site. It was a human with it's throat tore out. "AAAAHHHH!!!!!" She jumped to her feet backing away. Her eyes wide. "HOLY....GOD....!" Her heart pounded. She felt her gag reflexes kicking in. It was hard to breath. Cassandra knew she couldn't just run like she wanted to. She had to make sure that it wasn't Stirling. Easing over to the body she clamped her hand over her mouth to muffle any scream she might produce. She leaned over to see it's face. Letting out a sigh of relief. Thank god it wasn't him. The hand twitched and touched her bare foot. "AAAHHH!!!!" Screw this! Turning in the other direction she made a mad dash as she headed back towards the path. Her long blond hair flying in all directions. "Oh my god! Oh my god! That thing can't be alive! Oh my god!" Thankfully she reached the path and still running at full speed. Out of corner of her eye. Something blurred. Glowing. Yellow. Small like a pair of eyes! She stole a glance over her shoulder and sure enough......but they were closer like they were keeping up with her! Cassandra wasn't about to stop now. She'd run until her legs gave out.

(Mikael)
Mikael was in the Bahamas, one of his favorite places to be. All the nature, a vast amount of jungles to wander about in. Being an elemental of the Earth helped him out quite a bit. The plants seemed to move with him, tell him when they were disturbed. Actually, he lived here for most of the year, residing in caves and hammocks wrapped around trees for one night. The plants seemed to welcome him though.
His eyes popped open when he felt tree leaves brush across his face, warning him of some near danger or threat. Well, perhaps it wasn't a threat to Mikael, but it might be to the Earth and he simply would not have that. Popping out of a nearby cave, he headed out toward civilization. Sometimes the villagers didn't know what they were doing and were gracious of his help. Not always though.
His feet soon felt the crunching of the path below him, the change in altitude, even if it was an inch, seemed to affect him. His eyes darted about, catching the glimpse of a woman running away from him. Maybe he hadn't been as stealthy as he had hoped. His eyes flickered behind him and shrugged, heading off down the path after her. Something sure had given her the frights before he had even attempted, which he did not anyway.
His movements were swift, the air seeming to carry him more than anything. Within seconds, he was in front of her, standing still in the road. If she ran into him, she ran into him. If she happened to be looking where she was going, they could avoid a crashing of bodies altogether .
(Cassandra)
A dirt road just up ahead. Good. She was almost out of the thickest part of the woods. The road had to lead to somewhere. A house? Somebody with a phone? Maybe Stirling had already found help and was coming back for her? She couldn't and wouldn't "believe" he just vanished into thin air. It simply wasn't logical. Impossible.
And just like someone snapped their fingers the impossible...happened. Out of nowhere a man suddenly appeared before her in the road. "Whoa! What the....!?" She willed her feet to come to a dead halt, almost falling forward, kicking up dust as she caught her balance. Cassandra was looking up at him in surprise, only inches from touching. She backed up a couple of steps and averted her gaze. Her chest heaving, trying to catch her breath. "How.....?" Where had he come from?
Cassandra's eyes wondered the area all around them then she looked back from whence she came and discovered they were alone. She pushed her hair away from her face, trying to get her bearings, still feeling shaky from what she had uncovered back in woods. Should she trust this man? She took another step back, putting some distance between them, eyeing him with uncertainty. He'd snuck up on her which didn't sit to well. If she hadn't been watching closely, she would have slammed into him. And that would have been an unpleasant way to meet.
At this moment she was almost sure that if he wanted to hurt her, he would have done so by now. Making eye contact, she was the first to speak. "I'm stranded on this godforsaken island. There is a dead body that way!" She pointed with her thumb behind her. "I don't want to stick around long enough to see what caused it either. I'm guessing you know your way around this place?" Arms crossed. "My uncle is missing also. His name is Stirling. He's tall with gray hair, wearing a suit. We....became separated just as the sunset. Have you seen him?" She asked hopeful. The man just looked at her with an unreadable expression. She sighed through her nose. Damn you Stirling! He needed a good bitch slapping for leaving her like that! Not that she would do it but by god she could think it!
She slid her hands into her wet pockets and tried not to cough. Her throat was dry. Swallowing alittle of the ocean water and running combined didn't help matters. She cleared her throat and gave a small smile, feeling somewhat embarrassed for her ramblings. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude or anything." She paused. "My name is Cassandra and I need to find a phone or someone who can help me get off this island. I'd appreciate it if you'd point me in the right direction. Perhaps you know someone?" She waited for the stranger to answer.
(Revnant Vampire 1)
It lay there hidden deep within the thick leaves of the foliage of the Island, it's skin rotting off it's dead flesh, maggots eating what should have been it's brain, puss oozing out of it's once human pores, slowly it raised itself from the ground, although no longer human, it keenly heard the presence of other's about him, speaking in words it once knew, and their blood hung heavily in the air, entrancing it out of it's zombie like stupor, slowly it's chest heaved in and out, legs cracked as dead bones lifted it off of the ground, it was scenting. Unable to see through dead eyes, it scented the blood, hot and delicious, already it could feel it enliven the dead and decaying tissues in it's heart, in the now dead blood cells that once and long ago had given it human life, silently it crept through the thick foliage of the tropical jungles, not making a sound as it slowly chanced upon the beautiful young blonde and her male companion.
Placing a skeleton hand upon her soft shoulder, he grunted roughly into her ear as he arched his back, the bones in his unused spine cracking one by one causing her companion to turn and take notice of the six foot piece of rotting flesh, whose long white deadly fangs lay inches away from her tender neck.
Into the darkest night a lone scream of a terrified female echoed throughout the Island, awakening all the hungry things that silently crept in the darkness of the long forgotten Island, and did anyone stop to wonder?
Where do the misfits of society go? Those menaces to society that are more evil than the most heinous of evildoers. For even the most crazed of psychotic killers have a heart, but what of those creatures whose hearts have stopped beating centuries ago. How does one beg for mercy to a thing who has no mind left to them to remember such a thing as mercy.
ooc...no need to respond to what is in italics.

(Mikael)
wanted to laugh at the way the woman was reacting before him. Had that many people not seen dead things before. Perhaps he was wrong about all those aspects that filtered about his head. No matter though. "No reaosn to be scared fo the dead things on this island. Most have accidents here. If there was anything harmful, I would sense it." The way Mikael spoke seemed blunt and quite unharmful. He wasn't someone who was going to harm anyone around here.
"First off, how did you come to this island. What made you come?" Mikael questioned. There were always questions to be answered before any other action took place. "And no I haven't seen him. I sensed him awhile back as I walked about the island, but no hide nor hair of him anywhere in my vision." Mikael's eyes seemed to close as he said that, the plants fluttering about as he gained the power up through his body, all the way from his toes. Nothing in his mind seemed to jog anything of a man named Stirling. No plants in close range had come into contact with him yet.
"No need to apologize. You seem stressed and I will not hold it against you." Then again, Mikael dealt with this quite often. People became stressed, he dealt with it, calming them. He allowed his power to wash over her, hopefully putting her in a state of calmness, even if it was for a few minutes. "My name is Mikael, it's a pleasure to meet you." It almost seemed like he was too calm for his own health. Anger never truly gained itself in his eyes, he was neutral, had been for a long time.
"Phones are quite scarce on this island. I don't think you'll find one for several hundred miles. I can attempt to help you get off this island, but you woudl have to find..." His voice trailed off as he sensed something rising. Not much rose on this island unless there was a need for them to. His eyes widened and his glance shot toward the plants ot hir right. Yes, something had indeed risen from the dead. The villagers weren't going to be pleased. Or perhaps Mikael wasn't going to be pleased with them.
As Mikael turned back to Cassandra, he nearly jumped. These creatures were strong and grabbing her from them might be a bad idea, but he was going to chance it. His arm reached forward and he quixkly grippe dher hand, pulling her into his body. His power conbined their bodies together and his eyes never left the vampiric creature.
(Cassandra)
His calm demeanor put her at ease somewhat. Made her feel alittle safe. He spoke as if he knew what he was talking about. Like this sort of thing happened all the time but where she come from she'd never stumbled upon a dead body like that before. Being out here in the dark and wondering through the woods, she out of her element. Something about this man told her he was in complete control and comfortable in this environment. There was something else as she observed him more closely. The way he paid attention to the plants, as if he were silently communicating. His eyes gave him away when the moonlight touched them just right. She became acutely aware that this man is a supernatural being.
Straightening her shirt she finger combed her hair back knowing her appearance was unprofessional, she answered his question. "I'm a memeber of the Talamasca. It's an organization that documents paranormal activity." Not giving out any details. "We were on our way to another assignment when our helicopter crashed into the ocean. And now...." Hands on her hips. "We are stuck here."
She felt herself calming down, warm.......Mikael? Cassandra blinked once and smiled softly, realizing he'd just told her his name. "It's pleasure to meet you as well. I just wished we could have met under better circumstances." All the while she hid her disappointment that he'd not seen Stirling or the fact there were no phones. How did they live? In the stone age? Cassandra had a feeling she was going to have to rough it while she was here. She already had a rough beginning on this island. What else could possibly happen?
Mikael turned around sharply, looking at something behind her. The expression on his face said something was wrong. Her brows furrowed, questioning, until......A bony hand crept up and rested on her shoulder. A deep chilling moan sounded next to her ear. Cassandra froze solid. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on ends. She gasped and turned as hot foul smelling breath fanned across her throat. A pair of fangs flashed before her eyes as a slimy substance dripped from the mouth. It grabbed the front of her shirt savagely and jerked her up. Feet dangling off the ground. Cassandra was in utter shock. It hissed in her face, ripping off two buttons on the collar of her shirt while pulling her head painfully over to the side with a skelton hand exposing what it wanted! "NOOOOOO!" She screamed and fought wildly to get out of the monstrous grasp. Her chest heaving, eyes wide, she strained, pushing the at the wall of steal that was unyielding in attacking her. The mouth slowly stretched open, the razor sharp fangs began to descend towards her flesh!
Next thing she knew, Mikael had her in his strong embrace. She could feel he was generating some sort of power around them both. Her voice shaky as the creature stepped towards them. "Let's get out of here." Cassandra knew they couldn't kill it. She recognized it to be a revnant vampire like the ones Louis and Claudia had encountered in Europe. Unpredictable creatures.
The revnant vampire's arms reached out and swung at them as it grunted. It's movements were slow but if it got a chance to grab ahold it would be nearly impossible to escape it clutches. Thank god Mikael was there. If not, she would have been dead just now. Still holding on to Mikael's hand, she took a step back causing Mikael to tango her steps.
Her eyes narrowed. Energy began to pop and snap in the air. The revnant vampire snarled and extended it tongue making a gurgling noise. His hands clawed at empty space around them as it's nostrils flexed. Even though she felt protected with Mikael, she didn't like the feeling of being cornered either. Cassandra spotted a large fallen log on the ground and concentrated. The more she exercised her ability the more she learned how to control it and use it. This time she'd evoke it upon the one who attacked her. The parasite that preyed upon humanity and everything else that lived and breathed. Following the procedure, she began manipulating energy, directing it at the fallen log as it began to levitate. Aiming the energy, the log shot across the air, flipping end over end at an incredible rate until it made contact with the revnant vampire.
The rotting corpse fell backwards when the heavy log slammed against it's chest. A cloud of dust enveloped the creature when the earth met it. She arched a brow at the spectacular view, pleased with herself that she done what she intended to do. He wouldn't be down for long though. Any minute the creature would recover and come for them again.
A grey foggy mist began to roll across the ground making it hard to see in the distance. Faint sounds within the fog sounding very much like revnant vampire. Hands reached through the fog. The creatures of the night were hungry and they were first on the menu. If they didn't make a move now they'd be surrounded. The revnant vampires slowly inched closer through the fog.
(Daniel)
Daniel was a fast runner- all vampires were, and he fancied himself rather faster than most, what with being on the strong side, but he found it was taking more time than he had expected to reach the source of that scream. Of course, it was hard to run full out when there were trees and bushes blocking your path, and he had to content himself with that excuse.
And then, of course, there was the sudden blow that sent him spinning headlong into the ground.
Cursing to himself, he berated his own stupidity. He should have noticed he was at risk, but he had attributed the increasing rotten stench to another of the corpses he had found scattered about the island. He had certainly never expected to see what he saw now…. A revenant vampire. He knew instantly what it was, Louis’ description to him that night so many years ago now pounding through his head as vivid and entrancing as it had been that first time.
If only he were back in that apartment with Louis! How safe it looked now, when he was here, alone, confronted by that pounding immortal heart and mindless hunger. No one knew where he was, save his parents, and they would not know anyone to contact to come save him. There would be no Armand arriving this time, in his limo or his plane. This time, Daniel was on his own. Unless he could reach that voice! Of course, she might well be dead now too, killed by one of the brethren of the filthy, tattered creature.
It swung out at him, blindly, and he noticed that it’s eyes had rotted out. It was clearly reacting on smell alone, possibly hearing. But it was that blind instinct that made it so dangerous. While Daniel thought desperately of a plan, it would simply be attacking, preventing him from using the only advantage he might otherwise have over it.
For one dreadful instant, he thought he would die there, torn apart by this creature and left to catch the first rays of sunlight coming through the trees. For a moment he reflected that it would be beautiful… but then an image of auburn hair and large, dark eyes flashed in his mind and the moment passed. ‘No. No, I will not die without seeing him again. I will not die here, not before I apologize to him… even if he was wrong, I want to make things right… I love him, I will not die without telling him again!’
As the creature swung out again, one rotting arm moving through the air at a high velocity to try to hit him, Daniel ducked and charged at it, slamming into it at full speed and with all of his strength. It tumbled to the ground and thrashed there uselessly, trying desperately to get up. He couldn’t kill it, but he could escape it.
Kicking it sharply on the side of the face, the neck snapped with a sickening, but familiar crack. It would take a little time to get up now. He should be able to reach his goal by then. Turning, he continued his run towards the scream.
When he arrived at the scene, he was not surprised at all to see another of those creatures… but he was surprised to see a log slam into it sending it to the ground. He froze a few feet away, his sharp violet eyes picking out the shape of… one form. One? But he had distinctly heard two voices, and there was no fresh scent of death. Then he heard it… two heartbeats coming from that one figure. He wasn’t sure how it was possible, but now was not the time to question it.
“Hey, I don’t know who you are, but I think these things are surrounding us. Follow me- I took one out back this way, so we might have time to get past and out of this little cabal of revenants, if we hurry!”

(Mikael)
As the corpse was hit by the log, Mikael's power began to fade a little bit. He wasn't so used to sharing power with another creature to keep them safe, human or not, it was frustarting and took a lot out of his body and mind. A voice could be heard through the fog and soon enough Mikael fought to find the figure it had come from. He soon spotted Daniel and pushed Cassandra toward him slightly. "Go, I will follow when I'm done." he could sense their presence, so there was no need to wait for them. Mikael was alos swift on his feet and would gather distance quickly.
Once he had made sure the two were off, he stepped into the brush nearby and starteed closing it around the few corpses that seemed to be rising from the ground. Some sort of magic had raised them and it hadn't been him. Mikael knew where each corpse lay and he didn't have the power of necromancy to raise them. Nor, did he want that type of power. It was dangerous. Even if every corpse didn't rise from the grave and be evil, Mikael was still cautious around them. The poor villagers. The corpses better stray from their villages. Mikael would give no mercy if they did.
Once a few of the corpses were surrounded and being tangled together with twigs, leaves and wines, Mikael turned and ran. It could hold them for days, hopefully they would die by the time sunlight came. He could never be sure with how those things worked either. Maybe they could survive it. Mikael wasn't goign to stick around and find out. He wanted that man and female to be safe. he needed to find where they went.
Mikael rose his head in the air, listening faintly to the sounds around him. he could hear their footsteps a ways off and he took off after them, light on his feet and at a good speed. When he got to them, he came around the side of them to stand in front of them, his motions continuing as though walking backwards. "I have some of them held away for awhile. I don't know how well it will do or how many days it will last." Mikael's yees turned toward the newcomer. "My name is Mikael, resident of this island. Who might you be?"
(Cassandra)
Out the woods from another direction a man appeared before them. His eyes were almost electric, voice, commanding yet smooth as silk.
“Hey, I don’t know who you are, but I think these things are surrounding us. Follow me- I took one out back this way, so we might have time to get past and out of this little cabal of revenants, if we hurry!” He sayes to them.
Mikael nudged Cassandra towards the newcomer. No time to think or protest. Although, she knew he would probably alright, her natural instinct was to worry for Mikael's safety. She had first hand experience at what those revnant creatures could do. Cassandra nodded once, gripped the man's hand and they ran in the other direction, away from the grotesque walking corpse. She looked back one time, shuddering slightly at the remembrance of the nasty stench and ugly contorted face that had her moments ago. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to endure such anymore. She'd have that imprinted in her brain forever.
Out of breath, her heart pounding. They ran some distance and started finally slowing down. "Thank god." Catching her breath. She didn't have a clue as to where they were going but atleast they were gone from the danger. Mikael seemed to come out of nowhere, now walking infront of them. He told them he restrained the revnants but how he done it, she didn't know. Then he proceeded to tell the newcomer his name. Cassandra looked up at the man, realised she still had a hold of his hand and let go and just waited for him to speak.

The strange man sent the woman towards him, and Daniel grasped her hand, taking off at a run- though not a particularly fast one. No need to rip the poor mortal’s arm out of the socket! Focus instead on getting away, out of that slowly closing circle…
He could hear her heart racing, sense her thoughts wandering, trying not to focus again and again on her recent brush with the revenant. It was something Daniel could understand- he had almost found himself in some serious trouble with one as well… Amazing- he had not thought he would ever feel fear for his safety again, after Armand had given him immortality. It hadn’t taken him long to find out otherwise, and tonight was just another example of how naive he had been as a mortal. He wondered how many centuries would pass before he would finally really understand what he had thought had had grasped so well, just by having Armand as a companion for twelve years.
A few seconds later he realized that it was still possible for a vampire to feel as if he were about to have a heart attack, when the strange man returned again, suddenly, walking backwards before them. He hadn’t sensed or heard him approach! Quite the guy, really….
The pace slowed as the new arrival spoke. “I have some of them held away for awhile. I don't know how well it will do or how many days it will last. My name is Mikael, resident of this island. Who might you be?"
The girl dropped his hand, and he shot her a brief glance before turning his eyes back on Mikael. “I’m sure as hell glad you’ve done something with them. Those things were vile,” he muttered, a shudder running through his thin frame. “As for the name, it’s Daniel.”

"They are indeed vile. How they have been awoken is beyond me. Though, you both seem to be newcomers, or I have never sensed you on this island before. Maybe your presence has disturbed their slumber. They'd been dead for so long." And once their land was disturbed, they were quite unhappy. The graves had to be walked on and screwed with somehow for them to anger. also, the power of the person might be able to raise them.
"Why are you both here? In the jungle no less? I don't need details skipped out on either. This could be a very serious matter for all I know and I will not allow the people of this island to come into dager. However, it seems too late with those things running arounds." Fed on flesh they did of mortals. He could not have that happen.
Mikael soon began to pace, thoughts running about his mind as thought something was chasing them, willing to kill. He couldn't shake the feeling that all was going terribly wrong. This island had been undisturbed for some time now, or the jungle had anyway. Having strange presences inside of it was usually something Mikael tried to avoid. Perhaps it was all his fault.

Crossing her arms, she could tell Mikael was on the defensive. Cassandra cut her eyes from Mikael to Daniel. "Nice to meet you Daniel, I'm Cassandra." A solitary thought shimmered. Daniel Molly? She'd seen his picture once briefly in a profile but that was a couple of years ago. Maybe it wasn't him. What were the chances? Not real. No, this wasn't happening she thought as she turned away from them both. Daniel, the former reporter, would probably be with Armand or perhaps Marius. Of course.
"First. I just want to say to the both of you, thank you for saving my life back there." She sighed through her nose, staring at the ground. "And now I'll tell you what I'm doing here. My uncle, Stirling and I...we are memebers of the Talamasca, a secret order that documents paranormal activity. We had an assignment. Sort of a cold case brought back to life. The elders ordered us to come here, to the Bahamas for investigation. There had been sightings of a new branch of Taltos." She flicked a glance over her shoulder at them both. They probably did not know what she was talking about. "They are a supernatural breed that the Talamasca has been researching for centuries."
Tapping her chin with an index finger. "We traveled by helicopter to get here. But this particular island was not our destination. We crossed over the Bermuda Triangle and lost power. Stirling and I jumped out of the aircraft into the ocean before the crash. Our pilot died. We swam to this island. Stirling was with me......just a little while ago. From the beach we came across a beaten path thinking we could find people who resided here, for help. Stirling suddenly disappeared."
She shivered at the thought that he might be dead. "I...strayed from the path looking for him when I stummbled onto what I thought was a dead body. I ran away from it until I almost collided with Mikael."
Cassandra turned back around sharply, addressing Mikael. "That dead body followed me and tried to kill me. And then out of nowhere Mr. Daniel shows up. That's my story. Now. I hope I put your mind at ease. Is that enough info? It best be. I have nothing to hide. I am not the enemy!"
Tilting her head."Or could you not see that when I was hanging in the revnant vampire's clutches? In anycase if I somehow made this happen I surely didn't mean to. For all I know those creatures were already crawling around this place before we got here and one of them took, Stirling!" Cassandra huffed, flipping her hair over her shoulder, leaned against a tree, crossing her feet at the ankles, not looking at either one of them. She was cold, wet and tired but she'd die and go to hell before she complained. Damn it. Cassandra was too independent and she hated this situation she was in. "I'll find my own way out of here! I will not tolerate being interrogated any longer!" She thought to herself as she glared towards the woods wondering if Stirling was somewhere...in there...alive. She had half a mind to leave the two men and go her separate way. Her hand closed into a tight fist. One way or the other she had to get a grip and not let her emotions swing out of control.

The tension in their little group was high, though considering they had all almost been torn apart by revenant vampires, Daniel couldn’t really claim to be surprised. He watched, hands shoved deep in his jeans pockets, as Mikael started to pace. Slowly, as he listened to him, his eyes had drifted downwards to the forest floor, half of his attention on what was being said, the other half listening to the sounds around them, in case another attack was imminent.
His attention, however, snapped back up at the word ‘Talamasca.’ Daniel didn’t have much personal contact with the group, but coming from the Coven he was coming from, he knew enough- between Lestat’s antics, the warnings of the elders, and, of course, David Talbot. He focused his violet eyes on her intently as she continued her explanation, and so noticed that she was apparently cold.
Daniel waited respectfully for her to finish her explanation, before shrugging out of the light jacket he was wearing and carrying it the few steps to where she was leaning against the tree. “Here, take this. It’s not much, but I don’t really need it.” He grinned wryly, “I’m dry.”
Turning slightly then, so that he could address both of his erstwhile companions, he shrugged. “As I said, the name’s Daniel. And I’m not here for any supernatural reason, that I know of. Actually, I’m here because I got a letter from my parents, telling me my brother Alex was supposed to be here and they were worried about him. So, they send in old Danny and hope he can drag his wayward brother home again, or something like that. Though I’ll admit, what I’ve seen since arriving on this island has got me thinking that he’s finally in worse trouble than even I can dig him out of.”
He frowned then, rubbed his toe in the dirt in a nervous, frustrated gesture. “So I arrived by private plane and have been on my own since, wandering in the woods, coming upon more rotted corpses than I had ever wanted to see, and almost getting killed by a few. Oh, and in case you were wondering, it’s not really a coincidence I ran into you two. I heard you scream,” he explained, glancing at Cassandra. “So I figured this was the place to be…. Ah, if I wanted to find someone who might know better what was going on, anyway.”

Mikael was quite confused by the way the woman suddenly started acting. Was he intimidating in some sort of way. He had surely not meant it as any kind of attack against her. “I’m not saying you are the enemy. However, your investigation might be a very good reason why the vampires have returned from their resting place and terrorized. See, this is sacred land. It is protected by several forces of nature, myself being one.’ Mikael quieted himself and then turned to look at Daniel.
“And your brother…is he a mortal, or no?” Mikael needed to know this sort of information. These corpses could be all over the island. They were going to attack anything that was not native here. That meant Cassandra, Daniel and whoever they had come with or come to find.
“You two have gotten yourself into a deeper hole than you might think.” He wasn’t going to lie to them. He truthfully saw no point in doing so. This island had been brought to life once again with all the bad things. These two would be lucky enough to make it out of here alive. There was no doubt injury would be placed upon them. They might even spend an eternity underground with the corpses. Who knew? Mikael couldn’t intervene too much though. This seemed to be a natural process of the island. Nothing more and nothing less.

Dead I am the life, dig into the skin Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win Dead I am the dog, hound of hell you cry Devil on your back, I can never die..... -Rob Zombie-
"GRRRR!" The creature growls and wriggles in this net. He had almost had his prey! His puss filled eye sockets couldn't see that clearly but he had seen the blonde when he had her in his clutches! And her smell still lingers across the wind. It was sweet and ripe for the picking! It would satisfy this deep hunger for sometime.
The revnant grunted and twisted his hands and feet to break loose this bond that prevented him movement. The branches snapped. He had to get to her before any of the others did. The creature upturned it's head to the air scenting what direction to go as maggots fell from it's nostrils. A moan escaped with one thing on it's mind. Blood.
It fell to it's knees and began to dig up the dirt with a speed only vampire species possessed. Snarling and fighting it's way underground it tunnled like a mole. It slithered like an earth worm as the heartbeat got stronger. He was close. The smell of blood had it pushing faster and faster till it's hand shot up out of the ground and clamped around an ankle like a shackle. Her scream was music to his ears. Victory was his at last! He uprooted himself out of the ground dragging his victim towards his deadly fangs.

Cassandra turned to Daniel and excepted the offer of his jacket. "Thanks." She said quietly. She put the jacket on feeling the bite taken out the chill. Crossing her arms under her breast she leaned back against the tree and listened to Daniel explain.
So he had a brother on this island. Hmm. Which meant he had a dwelling of some kind near. A little hope sparked her intrest. Surely his brother had a phone or some kind of transportation to get off this island. What puzzled her was the fact that these two didn't appear as effected by any of what took place as she was. She shrugged inwardly. They were men after all and perhaps supernatural. Cassandra was only human, almost like an outsider to the group.
Cassandra's attention was back on Mikael as he started to speak. He was trying to figure out what happened that caused such a disturbance on this island that he apparently occupied for quite sometime. He was the protector of the forest it seemed. "I understand and I apologize for snapping at you. I'm really not that way. I've been rather edgy since my arrival here. Whatever it takes to ensure our safety I'm willing to cooperate." She said with a small smile.
Was Daniel's brother a mortal or not? She heard Mikael ask. Cassandra glanced in his direction wanting to hear the answer to that one herself. He went on to explain that they may be in deeper. Great. When would there be a sense of relief?
*branches snapping*
Cassandra gasped and turned around looking in the forest behind her. "Did you hear that?" She whispered as her hand fluttered to her throat. There was a moment of silence when she looked to the two males. A vibration under her feet. Then there it was, taken by surprise. Specks of dirt flung up in her eyes and she tried to run away but something locked around her ankle. One of her worst nightmares crawled out of the earth. "How did they get loose!" She shouted, jerking her leg to get free. "Oooh!" She hissed and tumbled to the ground as sharp talon like claws dug into her flesh, tightening it's hold. It hurt like acid burning.
The thing was completely out of the earth now followed by another one, going after Mikael and Daniel. She was being dragged towards the creature. Her free leg shot up and her foot connected under it's chin. She was taught within the Talamasca how to defend herself but against this thing she didn't think she had a chance in hell. She turned her body, tring to push with her free foot to get loose while her hands grabbed for anything but it was only the dirt, leaving a five finger trail when it dragged her again! "AAAHHHH!"
She threw a hand full of rock and dirt in it's face hard. The thing grunted and swated at the dust particles. Cassandra began to sweat, her chesting heaving, heartbeat going off the chart, about to panic. Everything was happening within a matter of seconds. Cassandra began to kick the thing in the face repeatedly with all her might, until it let go. She scrammbled to her feet missing a slash from the swing of filthy pointed fingernails. Got clear of the creature, moving to stand in between the men.

He smiled faintly at Cassandra as she took his jacket, and he admired her svelte form for a moment, indulging in the passing fantasy of taking that jacket back off… and then some, before returning his attention dutifully to Mikael and the matter at hand. The one that could quite easily cost them all their lives. Probably justified his attention.
At the question, he opened his mouth to respond, then closed it again. His forehead creased and his lips puckered in thought and consternation. Daniel wasn’t even entirely sure what he had been about to say. At any rate, this was not the time for lying. That didn’t give him a viable answer. All he could think of to respond was, ‘Probably not?’
But he didn’t, in the end, even have time for saying that much, because at that moment he sensed something under the ground. He had scant seconds to recoil out of the reach of the vile creatures that pulled their way up through the earth, dancing back, just out of their reach, though that would not last for long.
A sharp cry reached his ears and he glanced over, realizing one of them had Cassandra by the ankle. Another was shambling towards him, though he knew they could really move much faster- it was almost as if this one was stalking him, using what was left of its rotting brain to toy with him. Pity his brain was complete and more or less fully functional. Moving quickly, he approached the creature, which caught it off guard it would seem, and slammed his fist into its rotten face. He grimaced as he felt the molding flesh clinging to his knuckles, the feeble bones cracking under his blow, giving way to other, less solid things. If he had had time to think about it, he probably would have retched. Best to put the thinking off until later.
Hurrying to Cassandra’s side, he was there to grab her just as she managed to get free. “Hold on tight,” he warned, voice low and urgent. “Arms around my neck. And just trust me.” He could fly, if he really tried… but the sensation was highly uncomfortable to him. He didn’t much enjoy it. So instead, he planned to climb one of the nearby trees. Hopefully the rotted fingers of their pursuers couldn’t get them up after them, and certainly not at the speed with which Daniel could climb… Then, if he had to fly to escape, he would. Mikael, he thought, could take care of himself.

These things just didn't give up did they? Then again, what could one expect from the undead? Mikael quickly motioned for Daniel to get Cassandra out of here. "Go five miles west. You will find a cave up in a rocky mountain slope. Go there and wait for me. If I'm not back in ten minutes, please move the rock in front of the opening." Mikael lived in that cave. He had for centuries now. It had been the safest place he could find and it kept things cool during the extreme heat this island seemed to get on and off.
As the revenant vampire finished dusting away the particles that Cassandra had thrown at him, Mikael rose his hands into the air. He began to glow, emmitting power off of him within seconds. if Daniel and Cassandra didn't get out of there quick, it was most likely that they would explode along with anything else around this area. However, Mikael didn't have time. He would not allow these creatures to get near his beloved people of the island. There was no way he could. He was their protector, their savior. Blowing things up was usually his last resort, but he needed to clean this area of the horrid things that had errupted from it's soil.
"Get out of here now!" He nearly screamed, his voice shaking. It seemed to have anger in it, but it was more anticipation than anything. The corpse seemed to be coming closer to his power, trailing away from the two strangers on this island. Good thing too. Perhaps if the corpse got too close to the power, he'd simply dissolve instead of Mikael having to blow things up. Maybe he could push his power into the ground though, get rid of the things that were to come. He could deal with the ones above ground easily. Who knew how many more rested beneath the surface, waiting for their que.

Everything was happening so fast, she didn't have time to think. Just as she stumbled away from the creature, Daniel grabbed her, in a blur of movement. A warm trickling sensation came from her ankle where the revnant vampire had dug his filthy claws into her flesh. Wrapping her arms around Daniel's neck, her voice trembled. "I trust you." The two men had their hands full. If she wasn't so weak at the moment maybe she could have helped. After all, Cassandra was the most powerful telekinetic being ever recorded. Although no one knew that but Stirling and the Elders. Her other ability, body-switching, had yet to be explored in depth. To use the ability was forbidden for she had not mastered it. Stirling had told her it would come in handy one day if she should find herself in a deadly situation she couldn't get away from. Anything that breathes and walks has a soul and she could knock it out of their body, leaving them lifeless until the soul found the body once again. Mikael began to glow with power. Energy pulsed in the air. She shielded her eyes and gasped. The creatures were inching closer to Mikael! She was terrified! His demand for them to go to the cave was most urgent. Cassandra recognized that they were in danger if they didn't get out of range now. Blinking one time, Mikael was the size of a thumb tack. Then she realized....they were moving! It was a speed that made everything around her go out of focus. Cassandra closed her eyes and just held on. ______

With that urgent tone in Mikael's voice, Daniel didn't need to be told twice. He granted no further thought to his original plan of the trees, and instead, once Cassandra had a firm grip around his neck, he swooped her up in his arms in a move he would have killed to have been able to do at his high school prom, and started running flat out, as fast as he could go. Judging by the way his companion closed her eyes, it was pretty damn fast. The energy building behind him though, in such massive amounts, made him profoundly nervous that it still wouldn't be fast enough.
Daniel had tried to see how fast he could run before, and had amazed himself, despite knowing perfectly well what a vampire was capable of. But he had never tried it in a very wooded area. It hindered his speed a good deal, though with his adrenaline flowing he figured he was still making one of his best times. Pity he couldn't maneuver as well at this speed, with a weight in his arms, and he kept slamming his shoulders into trees as he moved around them. Well, the trees were dented anyway.... Daniel didn't even slow down to swear.
Finally, finally, he could see the cave mouth as the trees cleared out and he put on an extra burst of speed. Tearing through the entrance, he managed to slow and skid to a stop before slamming them both into the wall at the back. With a huge exhale, he lightly poked his chin into Cass' hair. "Hey, we're here. We're not moving anymore. You can open your eyes." That said, he carefully lowered her feet so she could stand on her own, though he kept a steadying grip on her... focusing on the small things to avoid the huge swelling of energy still outside... still not nearly far enough away for his comfort.

Slowly....she opened her eyes when Daniel snapped her attention back. Her naked feet touched solid ground, cold. She pushed her hair from her face, blinking, trying to adjust her eyes to the darkness. Moving that fast from one point to the other had messed with her equilibrium. She almost staggered but Daniel's grip on her was helpful in keeping her upright. And the darkness bugged her. The first thing that popped out of her mouth that she reacted to.
"It's dark.....I can't see." Her voice slightly echoed, the sound of water dripped in the background. Cassandra's eyes darted all around and she could now make out the caves entrance as a green hue spilled in. It had to be from Mikael. She hoped he was alright and he would come soon.
Then suddenly a sonic boom sounded. The whole cave shook, things all around them clattered and fell, a vibration went through her entire body. Cassandra twisted her hand in Daniel's shirt and pressed her face to his chest. "Oh my god! Don't let go of me!" She knew something was happening outside the cave and the effects of it were strong but she was trapped inside darkness, unbeknowest to her surroundings and it scared the hell out of her!
A second boom hit and the shock wave slammed into the cave once more. The ground trembled and Cassandra and Daniel fell to the stone floor. She clung to him as tiny rocks and dust came down on them, almost crawling ontop of him. "Dear god! What was that?!"
Finally....after a few moments the shaking stopped. They laid there unmoving. It was so quiet that she could hear the sound of his breathing, his heart or was it hers? She was afraid to move just yet. What if it happened again? "Daniel...?" She coughed from the dust. "Are you okay?"

He didn't even have time to really react to her remark about not being able to see before he sensed the power go off outside. Swearing viciously at himself for not having moved the stone doorway into place, he wrapped himself around Cass as well as he could to ride out the shockwaves.
And they were incredible! Strong and sturdy though he sometimes fancied himself, he was tossed around as if he were a childs toy. And the second wave was even more incredible, sending them both to the ground so quickly that he didn't have time to plan out a decent landing- what would be better, landing on the bottom and cushioning her fall, or covering her from anything that might fall? No matter- the blow took away his choice and he found himself flat on his back with her, in a completely reasonable panic, on top of him.
The stillness that followed seemed abrupt and unnatural. Everything was silence, silence, silence. Then after a few moments the sound of her breathing, her blood racing in her veins came through again and he exhaled slowly, allowing his eyes to fall closed. Her voice came as if from far away, asking after his health.
"I'm fine," he finally said, removing one arm from around her and lifting his hand to his forehead in a gesture of stunned exhaustion. "I think," he added after a moment. "You?"

"Yes...I'm fine." She eased her grip on Daniel. "I...I..think it's over." She whispered in the dark. What happened out there? Had the third memeber of their group perished? Or had he gone to the village to see to his people? Whatever the case, he had done something strong enough to destroy the creatures that had attacked them.
Cassandra felt around and fingered a lighter in the pocket of the jacket Daniel let her wear earlier. Reluctantly she pulled away from the safety of Daniel's embrace and stood to her feet. She flicked the lighter once, twice. The small glow put forth enough light for her to see before her. She lit the torch that was along the wall, making her able to see her surroundings finally, she felt alittle better.
The place was kept simple. There was cushions on the floor, she guessed for sitting. A small bed in the corner. A basket of fruit. A wash bin with a pitcher of water on a small table. It was not an expensive hotel suite but she wasn't complaining.
"I'm going to close the entrance." She announced as she strode over to the opening. The sun was beginning to rise. Cassandra gathered all the energy she could and directed it to the large rock. It slowly rolled into place, shutting them in. She swayed slightly, more tired then she thought she was.
"I think....I shall lay down now..." She stumbled towards the bed, her lids heavy. Daniel looking beat himself. She scooted over as far as she could, silently telling him she was sharing the bed if he wanted. Her thoughts were all scribble scramble about tonights events, listening hard for anything that might try to break in. She rolled over on her side, sleep was slowly descending upon her and her last thought was the image of the revnant vampire and his deadly fangs coming towards her.

As she got up, he pushed himself up onto his elbows and watched her silently as she moved about the cave. Well, not a bad place, but probably not safe for them both to be in at the same time. But since anything was safer than going back outside and facing anything else that might be out there...
He sat up enough to grab one of the pillows about the floor and pull it over to himself. It wouldn't be safe to sleep beside her- he had heard stories about vampires reacting to protect their prone bodies from curious mortals while they were in the death sleep. "Hey, Cass," he said, though he thought she might already be asleep, "If you wake up before I do, don't come near me while I'm sleeping, okay? I can... ah, sometimes lash out without waking up." And if she heard it and thought something of it, well, she had already seen how fast he could run. She would have to be completely stupid not to realize by now that he wasn't human, though in all the chaos she might not yet have figured everything out. Oh well.
He lay back against the pillow and stared up at the ceiling, feeling the day sleep tugging him heavily down and he sighed, wishing that he was instead in a plush bed in a windowless room in Miami with his Maker beside him. Foolish dream. And then he was asleep.

Cassandra woke up slowly, forgetting where she was she jolted upright in the bed, looking around, rubbing her eyes, not knowing what time it was. The pressure on her bladder testified, making her toes curl. God she missed her luxuries. She wanted to find Stirling and go....home. But she wasn't going to whine like a baby. She'd tough it out because she had to.
Cassandra leaned over the bed. Daniel was still sound a sleep. The cushion had fell away from his face and.....his mouth was partly open....fangs. Her eyes wide, she scooted back on the bed remembering he'd said not to come near him while he was asleep and now she understood completely what he had meant. She'd known he wasn't human when they first met and now she knew for a fact he was....vampire.
Daniel Molly. Armands pet. Of course! She huffed and rolled her eyes, throwing her hands in the air in a silent gesture. Lucky her. Maybe when he woke up he'd have breakfast, seeing how there was no one else around on this god forsaken island! "Damn..." She harrumphed under breath, squeezing the pillow. A friggin lion's den is what this was! Locked in with a vampire! Could this get any worse for her? She wondered if she had a sign on her forehead that read "tasty treat for fang face". But wait, she thought. He'd helped her when he could have just left her behind or worse....could have had her for dinner lastnight!
She honestly didn't know what to make of it but she wasn't going to freak out. No. That was the last thing she needed. Instead, she carefully rose from the bed and snatched an apple from the fruit basket and climbed back on the bed, bringing her knees up with her back to the wall, trying not to crunch loudly so Daniel could sleep and at the sametime trying not to think about the fact that she had to pee.

He awoke suddenly, as he did every night once the sun was down. All the aches and pains he had had when falling asleep that morning were gone, and he silently thanked Armand for that at least- granting him the immortal healing ability. He lay still for a while, not wanting to fully wake and have to face... all that he would have to face.
He could smell a mortal nearby, heard her eating, heard the blood running through her veins and for a moment he was touched with hunger. Cassandra, the name came to him, and he knew he wouldn't eat her. He was more relieved she hadn't approached while he was sleeping.
Daniel opened his eyes and sat up slowly, glancing around out of habit before resting his eyes on his companion. "You look pretty damn uncomfortable over there. You okay?"

When Daniel awoke and said she looked uncomfortable she nodded. "Yes..I uh...need to use the ladies room." Cassandra looked around, noting there was not one in the cave. She climbed off the bed and pitched the apple core to the ground.
"I trusted you slept well? Now, would you please remove the rock so I may relieve myself? I think after that we should be on our way to find others on this island. I very much indeed wish to find away to leave this place." She tried to look proper and not embarrassed that she would have to go behind a bush or a tree to use the restroom.

Daniel raised an eyebrow at her. She was acting quite stiff and somewhat formal. Interesting, after all they had recently gone through together. It occured to him that she had figured out what he was and, quite understandably, didn't want to be stuck in a cave alone with a hungry vampire. Well... fair enough. No need to mention it.
Standing, he brushed the dirt off of his pants and sleeves as he moved to the rock, gripped it, and pulled it aside so that he could peer out, which he did for a moment. He listened intently to the sounds outside- perfectly normal it seemed, with birds and animals in the undergrowth. No scent of putrid decay. No movement that seemed threatening. Good. Whatever Mikael had done, had apparently done the trick, at least for the moment.
Stepping back, he gestured to the opening. "Go on ahead. I'll stay in here until you tell me I can come out." And he winked playfully at her. Just trying to lighten the mood, give her the idea that, hungry though he might be- and indeed he was getting increasingly hungry- he had no intention whatsoever of eating her.

Cassandra's small feminine body emerged from behind the bushes, tossing her blonde hair over her shoulder, staring moodly at her surroundings, thinking a hot bath and a cup of tea sounded pretty good. A cool breeze ran over her skin as she sat down on a large rock, thinking about how Daniel had winked at her just before she left him back in the cave. A faint shy smile touch her lips as she thought about how nice it had felt to have his arms around her, his handsome face, looking at her. Heat crept up her neck. She was blushing. Cassandra had just discovered he was in fact a vampire. Confusing her. Which was why she had been rather short with him earlier. Throwing up a wall in her mind so he couldn't possibly know what she was thinking.
"I'm going to hell." She whispered to herself, ashamed for thinking such thoughts about, Daniel. He had helped save her life and here she was wondering what he looked like naked. Besides....a human attracted to a vampire could only lead to...fatality. Shame on her! Perhaps, he was well endowed? His lips and hands were mighty intriguing too. She raised the collar of the jacket he let her wear to her nose and inhaled his scent. When was the last time she had such intimate thoughts about a man? "Yep." She said wistfully. "I'm going to hell." Sighing, she slid off the rock and began to head back. She'd wandered far away from the cave and he was probably a tad worried right about now.
A dark figure stepped out from behind a tree just in front of her, blocking her path, shoving a wooden cross in her face, fashioned in a pair of black trouser pants, white shirt and black hat. His voice held disgust and anger, eyes hard, lips curling in a snarl. Any minute he'd spontaneously combust.
"Hold it right there, satan's helper!"
Her arms flung up automatically, as if blocking a blow from the mind-rattling-shout that came from the man before her. It took a moment to seize her composure, her hand fluttering to her chest where her heart pounded. Did he just call her satan's helper? Surely he was mistaking her for someone else? She cleared her throat softly. "My...you gave me a terrible fright. Thank goodness I found you. I'm..I'm lost on the island. My friend and I...we...I.." The long shot gun that was suddenly shoved under her chin shut her up. She tried to appear calm which was difficult when the man's expression was murderous, icy gleam in his eyes. The man whistled sharply and called out to the others to come quickly. She was an easy target, feeling very fragile out in the open like this. This man was capable of anything. Her muscles tensed perceptibly, fear running bone deep. Cassandra was at a complete disadvantage, not able to fully understand what was going on as the others gathered around her, looking like the mob, torches in hand. Collective whispers began.
"N-Now...wait one moment gentlemen...." She hedged a couple of steps backward, hands in the air. "There's no need to resort to violence. I'm sure we can talk about this calmly and rationally." Trying to hold her voice persuasive and light. "Silence demonspawn!" The man backhanded her across the cheek, causing pain to explode and her teeth to rattle. A coppery taste filled her mouth as her vision was slightly blurred for a moment. The man grabbed a fist full of her hair and jerked her around, holding her before the others as she gasped aloud in shock. "What you see before you is the devil's minion! She and her followers must be destroyed! There was peace here until she came to the island and made the evil creatures rise up to attack our women and children in our village!"
Cassandra realized they were very superstitious with a one track mind. On this part of the island, there was no law and there was nothing she could do to stop them from doing what they wanted to get justification. And they had to pin the blame on someone. She struggled in the mans grip. "Based on what? Assumptions? You can't possibly be serious! I haven't done anything wrong and you know it! Let me go!"
"The devil lies! Don't listen to her trickery!" Another slap sent her to the ground, accompanied with a kick to the ribs. Cassandra rolled over, clutching her side, sucking in a breath and coughing. It hurt badly! She spit the blood from her mouth and slowly glared up at him with dark malevolent eyes, slowly coming undone. Her body shook, radiating fury. There was no reasoning with these people. This was all about survival now. She had to escape before they tried killed her. Any further abuse and she'd unleash what she was holding back ten fold.
"Don't. Ever. Strike me again." She said through clenched teeth as she stood to her feet, energy thumped through her body like a strong heartbeat, humming, searching for feral release, the air around her crackling. The man sneered and stalked a circle around her, gun pointed. "Devil's whore!" He motioned to the others to come forward with a diabolical smile. "We got us a whore fella's. Maybe we should treat her as one."
"I thought you feared the devil?" She took a step back. "Don't you dare touch me!"
"Shut up, bitch." The man unbuckled his belt to release his hefty bulge and licked his lips. "If you move, I'll shoot." He laughed and came closer. "Now...spread your legs and play nice."
Without touching his gun, Cassandra yanked it from him, sending it sailing through the air to be lost in the woods. The man stared at his empty hands in bewilderment. She took that distraction and doubled up her fist, drew back and hit him between the eyes, hearing the bone crunch. "Jesus Christ!" The man said in a muffled voice, clamping his hands to his bloody nose in pain. She tilted her head with a look of sympathy that was fake. "Awwww. Is the devil's whore too rough?" The man shook his head no quickly, indicating he was pissed, thinking his friends would advance and take her down any second. She smiled. "Oh goodie then. Let's tango." Cassandra kicked him in the groin with all the strength she could muster. He screamed like a scared woman in the night and turned three shades of red and fell to his knees, eyes wide, lips quivering, cupping himself, then fell over on the ground, crying like a baby. She leaned down, grabbed a fist full of his hair, bringing his head up to whisper angrily sarcastic next to his ear. "Shut up, bitch!"
"HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! What did you DO to, Johnathan?!" One of the men shrieked as they crowded around, Johnathan. Cassandra didn't answer, snapping out of her fit of rage, letting go of the mans hair, realizing the damage she had done. It scared her. She took off running like a bat out of hell back towards the cave to warn Daniel about the men. It wasn't safe anymore and they were in terrible danger. It was all her fault! Dear gods, if she hadn't wandered off so far maybe this wouldn't have happened? All she knew right now was that she had to make sure Daniel was aware before it was too late!
"Daniel!" She shouted with urgency to get his attention as she ran through a clearing, coming closer to the cave, leaves crunching beneath her feet, breathing hard. There was a sudden sting to the back of her neck. She hissed in a breath, stopping dead in her tracks and reached around to pull out a small dart that had been previously laced with drugs....

He had started poking around after she had gone. Truthfully, Daniel didn't know what he was looking for, only that if he found something useful he would know it. As it was not a very large or well furnished cave, it didn't take him long to realize there was nothing at all. But he did notice that Cass wasn't back, and he couldn't sense or hear her anywhere nearby.
Just because those vile creatures didn't seem to be around didn't mean he felt easy about not knowing where she was. Frowning faintly, he stepped outside of the cave and hadn't gone two steps before, having opened his mouth to call her name, he heard shouting in the distance. It wasn't too close, but it wasn't far enough away to make him think there was no way for Cass to be involved. When he heard a woman's voice crying back, he knew.
It was a large mob, he could sense that, and they were armed. He knew Armand had taken out that many vampires on his own, and these were only humans, but he wasn't Armand and he was also completely untried in such things. He hadn't even done much fighting in high school, preferring to just get along with everybody. But he couldn't leave her alone. Not when he had heard them call her the devil's minion.
Well, surely their earlier situation had been worse than this, right? So he took off in the direction of the noises, though he hadn't gotten far before he found Cass, standing stock still and holding something she had apparently just pulled out of the back of her neck. He faltered for a moment, worried it might be poisoned, but there was no time for that. He had to protect her from the oncoming mob.
With a speed the approaching men couldn't follow, he reached Cass and carefully pushed her behind him. "Idiots!" he snarled at the men. "Don't you know you're mistaken about this girl? She's not the Devil's Minion. -I- am!"
