Marius is born in Rome, in the family of a Roman Senator, an illegitimate son of a Celtic Princess. The family lives on the Palatine Hill, and is in favor with the Emperor Augustus Caesar. 10 B.C. Marius becomes a scholar and a chronicler and starts traveling the world from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. In his wanderings, he visits Ovid, who lives in exile since 8 B.C. 5 B.C.. Marius meets Pandora, then Lydia, a ten year old daughter of a highborn Roman and asks permission to betroth her, but is turned down by her father. 1 B.C. February 1st. At the Lupercalia, Marius and Lydia meet again. According to Lydia's father, Marius's history by that time includes thirteen volumes. Spring, while working on his history in Massilia, Marius is captured by the the Keltoi. He is taken North and kept prisoner. Novermber 1, On the feast of Samhain, Marius is taken to the God of the Grove to be made into his successor. After his transformation, manages to escape and flees to Egypt to fulfill the God's wish and find out what happened to their kind all over the world. December, Marius settles down in Alexandria and follows the summoning of Akasha. He finds out that the Queen and the King of the vampires, the fount of their power, who had long ago became motionless, were left in the sun by their Keeper, which caused the terrible destruction of their fledglings. In an underground Temple he learns the legends of the blood drinkers and steals Akasha and Enkil. He also takes away all the ancient scrolls he can find. 10 Marius settles down in Antioch on the Orontes where he makes a sanctuary for Akasha and Enkil and continues his research of the history of the blood drinkers and their worship. He kills every burnt blood drinker who comes to the city seeking the blood of Akasha and Enkil. 15, October, In the temple of Isis, Marius meets Pandora, who is claiming to see the nightmares of blood drinkers. 16, October, A burnt blood drinker, Akbar, mortally wounds Pandora, and Marius makes her into a vampire. They start living together in the company of Pandora's mortal steward, Flavius. 29 Due to his grave illness, Pandora transforms Flavius into a vampire. Marius banishes his from his home. 29-220 Marius and Pandora live in Antioch and study philosophy and literature. Gradually, the obvious decline of the Roman Empire and the spreading Christianity start to affect Marius in a disturbing way. He starts thinking of leaving Antioch. 220's A group of young blood drinkers, Christian, pay a visit to Marius and Pandora. They have to dispatch with them. Marius is determined to stay in Antioch and becomes obsessed with killing every other blood drinker in the world. After a few months, Pandora temporarily leaves him, but he, believing that she has gone for good, abandons Antioch and takes Akasha and Enkil with him. III-XIV Of these centuries, nothing is known. XV Marius chooses the Republic of Venice as a permanent place to stay, because "it has an art of a thousand years" and "is in itself, a work of art". He becomes a painter and dwells in a rich palazzo. Although his works are much admired, he almost never sells them for profit. He paints in the manner of the Renaissance master, choosing mostly mythological or religious subjects or makes copies of the works of mortal painters for himself. 1495, Autumn, Marius buys out a young slave boy who becomes his mortal lover, companion and confidant. For two years Marius and Amadeo (later-Armand) live in Venice among Marius's mortal apprentices. During that time Marius receives Mael, his Druid captor, who also became a vampire. 1497, Winter, Marius makes Amadeo into a vampire and spens most of his time teaching him the lessons of vampire life and survival. 1499 The Roman Coven of Christian Vampires, led by Santino, attack Marius and torch him. Badly burnt, Marius still manages to reach the sanctuary of Akasha and Enkil, and Akasha gives him her healing blood. XVII Restored, Marius moves to Dresden where he lives as a count and occupies a luxurious palace under which he keeps Akasha and Enkil. XVII (late) At a court ball, Marius suddenly meets Pandora. He is determined to have her back, but due to misunderstanding she leaves the same night. Marius makes his sanctuary in the buried city of Pompeii, but mortals digging up the ruins soon drive him out. XVIII Marius settles at a Greek island and lives there in recluse. 1790 Marius comes to the rescue of Lestat, a young vampire who has gone under the earth in Egypt. He receives him at his island and confides in him his story. He even takes him to the sanctuary of "Those Who Must be Kept," where Akasha shares with Lestat her powerful blood. XIX Moves to an unknown location. XX Makes a sanctuary for Akasha and Enkil in the North of the American continent. Sometimes shot his own movies. 1984 Akasha awakens from her state and badly wounds Marius. Caught in a pit of ice, he is saved by Pandora and Santino. Joins Maharet and the other survivors at the gathering at the Sonoma Compound. Raises his voice against Akasha and tries to convince her to stop immolating human population. After the destruction of Akasha, joins the Coven at Armand's Night Island, but after a while leaves the others. Lays down the rule that no new blood drinkers can be made. 1995, Winter, Appears in New York with Santino to wipe out all the evidence of mass self-immolation of vampires. 1996 Goes to New Orleans to try to help Lestat awaken from his state of unconsciousness. Soon re-unites with Pandora and stays with her in a palatial house built in a Roman style. 1998 Meets with Armand and his young mortal companions Sybelle and Benji. While they stay in his house, transforms them into vampires for Armand.
