I walked into this bar. It was a place I had been to before. I don't know why. I mean, it wasn't nothing that fancy after all but it was a place where all the young people seem to enjoy. Being in the Talamasca, I hardly know what it's like to "party" as they say. Perhaps, I take my job to seriously, putting it first. Before I know it, I'll have grey hair and lose my youth before it's my time.
I push my way through the dancing couples and come to the bar and sit down.
"What'll it be lady?" The bartender ask.
"Um. I don't...I don't know. Perhaps, I'll have what the young people prefer. What do you suggest?" I answer.
"A beer it is." The bartender replies with a roll of his eye.
"Very well then." I say as I put the beer on the napkin since they have no coasters.

Ah, the club scene- something I had once been intimately familiar with. Yet how many years had it been since I'd been in a club? Since before I had been made a vampire? Certainly Armand hadn't wanted to go out with my anywhere after that damned night... the night I got what I wanted and lost the one I wanted to share it with. Well, such was... ah, unlife.
But how intoxicating it was! How had I ever forgotten? All the energy, the vibrance of every single dancing, drinking, sweating mortal in the place. And so amplified by my vampiric blood that I had to lean against a wall for a few minutes to collect myself- the rushing of their blood so overwhelming.
Seeing a few appreciative gazes turned my way, I smiled back, coming back to myself a touch, and made my way to the bar. It seemed a good place from which to decide what to do next.

The over weight man wearing a t-shirt next to me that barely covered his overlapping stomach read.
PULL MY FINGER
"Well, hi there pretty lady. Ya won't some pretzels?" And shoved a basket of what looked like pretzels in my direction. His missing two front teeth when he smiled made him comical to look at but I was polite and just smiled back. "No thank you." I pushed them away and took a drink of the beer. Wasn't that bad. At least it was cold.
I looked over my shoulder at the happy dancing crowd. A fast song came on and I had to watch for I did not know these movements. "Interesting."
By the forth beer my taste buds were numb and the beer had no taste. I was feeling a bit happy, listening to the jokes the over weight man told the bartender. Then there was a man who had come and taken the seat on the other side of me. He was handsome and young and looked excited to be here. "Hi." I smiled and took a drink of my beer, feeling alittle bit bold.

I felt like I could get all the nourishment I needed just off the energy in the air of this bar. Blood was just condensed life force, after all, and this.... the air was even thicker than blood. It was delicious and I wondered for a moment if things would have been different if I had just gotten Armand to come to a place like this with me, shared this with him... if maybe it would have pulled him out of his wallowing misery for a moment, just long enough to see that I still loved him. But that was a pointless and painful train of thought anyway.
The air got sharper and more pungent as I drew near the bar- the tang of alcohol in the air, a faint hint of long dried and cleaned away vomit mixing with it. Unpleasant, and a painful reminder of my own past in places like this, reeking like this, and yet, I was compelled.
I seated myself at the bar and then happened to glance to either side of me. A rather too skiny girl with lank hair and a dazed, drugged expression on one side, and a much better looking blonde on the other.
When she spoke to me before I even had time to open my own mouth, I grinned hugely, careful to keep my lips closed none the less. "Well hello yourself."

Well now wasn't that just so unlike me, I realized. The impulsive side was showing tonight. Maybe I should drink beer more often? Hmm. On second thought perhaps not. I had to remain sharp, on my toes with a clear head. If I began to drink all the time it would disrupt my ability to function properly when I was needed most. Ah, but then hadn't Merrick Mayfair done such? Drowning herself silly in rum, even within the walls of the motherhouse? For shame, for shame. It didn't seem to hinder her in the least I should say. But then she was after all, spoiled by Mr. Talbot and Mr. Lightner, wasn't she? Humph! I wonder if she was infact drunk like a sloppy lush when she seduced Louis de Pointe du Lac into making her one of.....them. Perhaps she even casted a spell on poor Mr. Talbot into bed when they were in the jungles! Poor man. From what I read he could hardly get an erection and his heart was knocking on heavens doors. Miss Mayfair had nothing on me. At least I can hold my head up high and be respected like a lady should be. She might have been a powerful witch and all but she also done everything and anything to get her own way like a power slut! If Merrick and Mona had ever met I would bet they would have been bestfriends. Hmm. No. I shouldn't think such things. It wasn't proper to be judgmental. I would not dare tell a living soul my private thoughts on the matter. Only the facts. Facts were truth. Facts were safe. To truely dig deep and find out information one had to be impartial and open minded, in the background. Attachment outside the Talamasca was forbiden. As in the past, risk of memebers suddenly disappearing was feared among the Elders. Like a good girl though, I done what was required of me. What sort of life had I really committed myself to? I done as I was told....most of the time. Yes. In fact, I was warned not to come back here to this particular bar. A ghost of smile on my lips now......we all have secrets, do we not? This thirtyish looking man was just a chance meeting on one of the rare nights I could get away and just relax. His smile was charming and he was attractive. He looked like someone I could be friends with. Even if it was for just tonight.
"What'll it be, sir?" The bartender asked the man next to me as he wiped off the counter with a white towel then sat a napkin before him. "I recommend the beer." Glancing from the man to the bartender. "If the gentleman would allow it, I would like to buy him one." I turned more to face him and casually crossed my legs. "My names Cassandra."

Oh, that's right- people expected me to drink. That's why Armand didn't like these places- aside from the fact that everyone always assumed he had a fake id- which he did, but so we all did, what with most of the Coven being from a few centuries ago and all, and the rest of us not looking like our technical age anymore- I didn't look fifty!
Well, there were ways of dealing with things, after all. It would look suspicious to be at a bar and not drink, especially when a gorgeous young lady was offering to buy.
I gave her an appreciative nod. "A beer it is then," I told the bartender, before leaning one elbow up on the bar so I was turned at the waist, the better to see her. She was a looker.
"Well, Cassandra, my name's Daniel," I informed her, tone light and jovial. I wasn't usually into blondes, but.... For a moment I considered taking her as my meal for the night, but something about her made me change my mind an instant later. No. Best not to mix business with pleasure, and this was entirely pleasure.

I smiled and took another drink of my beer. He, on the other hand, hadn't touched his. Hmm. Perhaps he didn't like beer and was just being nice by excepting it? Looking at him more closely I noticed his eyes were...reflective? They were also very vibrant in color. Contacts. Yes. He must be wearing them I thought as I looked back around to the dance floor. People here were dressed the part. I could see alot of fake fangs, contacts and gothic wear. One man had three spikes of his hair standing up on his head in a mohawk. I wondered how much hairspray was used to hold it up.
This was called The Vampire Bar after all. Alot of people seemed to believe they were vampires here in great numbers. And sometimes there were. Just think. If I were sitting next to one? Ha. Interview With A Vampire came to mind. Having a conversation with one and not thinking about the possibility of dieing would have been hard. I was packin tonight. Extra precautions made me feel safe. A gun, mace and switchblade, all in my purse, not to mention I could body slam one through the brick wall if I had to. I wasn't the least bit frightened.
I drummed my nails on the counter out of bordom then brushed a few unruly tendrils of hair from my face before addressing Daniel again. "Are you meeting someone here?" I wondered if he came alone or if he had a buddy or girlfriend on there way. A man as good looking as he had to have a girlfriend stashed somewhere.

Noting her glance towards my untouched beer, I lightly picked it up and raised it to my lips, allowing a few drops of the foul liquid to trickle across my tongue and down my throat. How had I ever gotten so dependant on the vile stuff? I'd probably have to throw it up later, but hell, people always throw up after drinking, so what does it matter? It looked like she soon might be a bit too drunk herself to even notice if I was drinking or not, so...
At her question, I could feel the dark shadow pass across my face. No... I wasn't meeting anyone, and probably never would be again. My demonic familiar had left me entirely alone. But I forced a cheerful smile and shrugged. "No. I'm just here to soak in the atmosphere."

I simply nodded at his last remark but I didn't believe for a second that he didn't have a girlfriend just by his behavior. I have been in bars before but alot more fancier ones than this where the lighter music played and champagne flowed. Even in those places when a gentleman came up to me there was automatic flirtation. Maybe he didn't like woman?
I checked my diamond watch. Boy the time was surely flying tonight. Even before Daniel came to sit at the bar I had already been here three hours. I was tired of sitting. I came here to have fun. Looking around I spotted a neon sign above one of the doors that read: Game Room
The door was partly open and I could see a pool table, people playing poker and darts. "That looks like fun. I think I shall go try that." I said to him as I left my seat at the bar. As I started to walk to the game room a man grabbed my hand and shouted over the loud music that he wanted to dance with me. He was taller then me and very handsome, even with his gothic attire. "Yes." I smile up at him.
We squeezed in the middle of the dancing crowd and we both began to dance to the fast music. Bodies surrounded me and the gentleman, brushing up against each other. He kept smiling at me and I could not help but and smile back.

Dammit... her question had sent my thoughts to -him- again, and it took me a moment to react to her comment about the game room. I answered, "Have fun," rather lamely, but she was already out of hearing range- not that that meant she had gotten far, considering the noise in the bar.
I watched her walk away, for lack of anything better to do. At least I didn't have to worry about my drink anymore- the little sip had made me feel a little sick anyway.
When the guy asked her to dance, I raised an eyebrow thoughtfully. Dancing. That sounded like fun, actually. And seeing her dancing in that crowd... she had looked pretty before, but her actions put her lithe figure into better focus. Very nice. I think I wanted to dance too.
Nodding to myself, I stood and pushed my way through the crowd to a spot near her and her companion. A small knot of women there gave me appreciative, flirtatious looks and I smiled back, eating up the attention. Closing my eyes, I found the beat and started to dance as well.

Suddenly the music changed to a slower song. The gentleman bravely put his hands low on my hips and pulled me close. I wrapped my arms around his neck as we swayed to the beat of the music. "I been watching you all night." The man whipsered in my ear. I blushed. "You have?" He smiled at me. "Yes. You look so beautiful that I was shy to come over. I thought you would say no to someone like me." I was sort of confused. "Why would you say such a thing?" He gestured to what he was wearing. Black t-shirt, leather pants and boots, chains around his hips, spiked collar, eyebrow piercing. "I look different and you look normal." I shook my head. To me it was the other way around inside this place. I stuck out, he didn't. "I like you the way you are." He smiled a million dollar smile. "Good." He took out some fake fangs from his pocket and slipped them into his mouth. I laughed. He wagged his brows and I laughed harder.
"I'm Jake."
"I'm Cassandra."
"Why would a woman like you come to a place like this, Cassandra?" He bent his head to my neck and barely applied pressure from the fake fangs. A chill went up my spine as he continued to playfully do it. "I..I..because all the young people come here and I---AH---wanted to have fun... with people my age." His lips closed over the fangs as he pressed a soft kiss in the place of his playful biting. "Yeah...me too." He grazed my neck with the fangs and it caused me to giggle.
"That tickles."
"You have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"Want one?"
I busted out laughing at his question. Surely he was teasing. He laughed and spun me around. I caught a brief glimps of the man that had been sitting at the bar. He was dancing with a group it seemed but I could hardly tell, being clustered around with so many people.
The lights went out and the strobe light switched on. Like the music, the lights changed with it. Jake pulled me in his arms and grinded his hips to mine, reminding me of a scene from Dirty Dancing. I copied his moves and we were moving in the same rhythm. He smelled so masculine. I loved it. I looked down to see our bodies moving together and he tipped my chin up to make me look at him while we danced like that.

A big smile was plastered on my face as I slung my purse over my shoulder. Jake had freely lavished his attentions upon me and had showed me a great time tonight. He kissed my cheek as I turned to leave the bar, asking for promises of my return. Perhaps I would sometime soon. He sure knew how to take charge and bring a party to life. I smiled to myself again as I disappeared down the street towards my car.

I was coated in blood sweat and grinning like an idiot as I threw myself into the music and the press of the bodies around me. In ecstacy, I threw my mind and thoughts into the wild, frantic jumble around me... and was surprised by Lestat being there, and several others that I knew... and then, in the eyes of some mortals at the edges of the dance floor, I saw -him-. I stopped dancing suddenly, eyes wide, torn between wanting to go to him and wanting to hide.
It occured to me that he probably knew I was there, and was pointedly avoiding me. That thought was enough to make up my mind. The mood soured for me, I pushed through those around me and headed outside- where I saw that gorgeous blonde from earlier walking down the street by herself. Well, now that wasn't safe at this time of night!
Picking up my pace to a light jog, I hailed her, "Leaving so early?"

I fummbled around in my purse for my keys. It was dark in the area. They dropped to the ground. "Dammit." I bent over to pick them up. Just at that time a breeze grew strong and lifted the back of my dress up.
"Leaving so early?"
I hear in the distance. Oh god! I smoothed my dress down, trying not to blush, hoping no one saw that! I turned around at the voice, squinting alittle. It was the fine young gentleman I had met at the bar.
"Daniel?" I smiled and walked towards him. "I was just.....leaving yes. What are you doing out here?" I laughed teasingly.

I flashed her a cheeky grin. "Just leaving, obviously." I laughed and raised my hands, knowing how it might look to her. "I'm not stalking you or anything. I didn't know you would be out here." One hand moved to the back of my neck and scratched there idly- the blood sweat was drying and itching a little. "Someone... turned up at the club against all odds. Someone I wasn't expecting to see and wasn't exactly... well, if he knew I was there, and he probably did, he wouldn't be happy so I thought it prudent to duck out."

I wondered who Daniel was talking about at first but then....it was none of my business really. He seemed to want to get away from who ever it was.
I smiled, the keys jingling in my hand. "Well...I'd be happy to give you a lift to where ever you want to go." I walked around my car and got in and started it up.

"Offering rides to near complete strangers who may or may not have followed you out of a club. Dangerous behavior there, lovely." I flashed a brilliant grin. "I like that. So sure, I'd love a ride. Just to, ah. Whatever decent hotel is on your way." I shrugged, not really caring where I ended up. Just so long as -he- wasn't there. "Nothing five star," I added, as an afterthought.

I started laughing at Daniel's comment about me giving strangers rides. "I met you in the bar! That should be enough!" Besides I knew he wasn't stalking me...I mean...he didn't seem interested in me at the bar. I had a feeling he just needed a ride to get away from whoever was inside the bar before he had to confront them.
And here I was. Good ole' Cass, to offer him a lift. Wasn't that nice of me?
I left the parking lot, headed towards one of the main roads. He'd said just anywhere. Well, that said he didn't have a house or an apartment. I bit my lip. It was none of my business. "Just tell me what looks good to you and I'll drop you off." I smiled friendly.

"Great, thanks. You're my own personal angel savior." I grinned at her, friendly like, and settled comfortably back in the seat of her car. This was a move he wouldn't anticipate me making, of that I was sure. Good. Maybe he wouldn't find me. Maybe I didn't even want him to. And what a joke that thought was.
I kept my eyes out the window on the buildings that went flashing by, dismissing some as too cheap and ramshackle- and thus not safe for sleeping in during the daylight, or others as far too posh and thus too likely to be housing Armand. Finally I saw one, a generic chain motel, that looked sufficient.
"You can just drop me here, if you like. This looks like it will do."

I cut my eyes at Daniel's handsome profile as he looked out the window. The thoughts in my head were....none to dignified. Not to mention the way his jeans hugged his lower region made it hard not to look.
Then he spoke up and said he wanted to be dropped off at some rather not to attractive motel.
"Okay..."
I pulled up to the front of the motel. "Well, it was very nice to meet you, Daniel. Maybe I'll see you again at the bar sometime?"

I picked up my dagger and sprinted through the darkness, running at full speed towards the unspecting diamon. With my hieghtened hearing I could hear him on his cellphone talking about meeting his fellow soul-suckers at a bar.
I threw my dagger and watched it stick in the diamons chest. He died instantly. I ran to retrieve it. I knew I had to go to this bar and finish the rest off.
There was an on coming car going down the highway and I simply stepped infront of it, lowering my sunglasses.
