Act one
(A street, its dark except for the dim light of the buildings and a street light in front of a bus stop stage right where a handsome young man waits)
I need to get home soon
I can’t sleep in til noon
Or else I’ll loose my job
And be a rent less slob
I’ll loose my apartment
If I can’t pay my rent
It’s already over do
My watch says it’s almost two
Does the bus run this late?
I was stood up by my date
So I went out to the bar
I wish I owned a car
I’m not drunk anyway (takes a flask from his pocket and drinks)
So I could drive ok
Too bad I can’t afford
Even my mom’s Accord
(enter stage left back nearer the buildings climbing along like a cat, jumping to the street and walking in a slinking way, cat lie grace, he catches sight of the loan mortal boy and watches him)
Some things go bump at night
Some monsters wait to bite
I’m one of those bad things
Legend greater than kings
All know of what I am
Who believes in the damned
I am a vampire
Yet I don’t inspire
Terror in any I meet
Even those who I eat
Until it is too late
And I have sealed there fate
I have an angel’s face
And can charm like an ace
I’m so hungry tonight
Look there’s someone to bite
(The boy paces, and then shivers, he is dressed in a tight fishnet top and tight jeans, clothing that is fine for a gay bar but so much for the streets this late in fall)
Oh wow it is so late
How long am I to wait?
I need to get some sleep
I think I’m in too deep
God I feel so so dumb
Will the bus ever come
I think that it might snow
And I’ve no where to go
To escape from freezing
I may end up wheezing
I’ll catch my death out here
What do I have to fear
Though really, why worry
Won’t make the bus hurry
I just need to be cool
Though I feel like a fool
(The vampire watches out of sight of the boy, deciding what to do)
He is so very young
What has he ever done
To deserve such a fate
Just because he’s out late
Does he deserve to die
I am not one to cry
But I do have a heart
Innocents are not part
Of my preferred diet
But might as well try it
Can’t always be good
Though I wish that I could
But my lust is my curse
He’s so lovely, I thirst
To have his blood in me
To feed is ecstasy
Song 2
(The vampire approaches the mortal)
(The vampire strikes up a conversation with mortal flirting with him in order to lure him back to his apartment)
Vampire: You know it’s very late to be out here
You must be cold dressed like a gay stripper
(mortal in angry sarcasm)
Mortal: I am not a stripper just a slut queer
For your information I dress hipper
(Vampire interrupts)
Vampire: Don’t be defensive, No offense you look nice
I was just trying
Mortal: to break the ice?
Vampire: yeah, I think we got off one the wrong foot
I think you’re hot but probably cold now
(spoken: err um)
(Mortal laughs)
Mortal: Well that was most certainly well put
But I know what you mean anyhow
Vampire: You know the bus stops running at midnight
Mortal: It does? What am I
Vampire interrupts: Actually I might
Be able to help, I’ll call you a ride
Mortal: Nice Offer but I don’t have the money
Vampire: Its cold, come to my house and wait inside
I’ll cover you for the cab fair honey
Mortal: That’s so nice how can I repay you for
(flirtatiously)
Vampire: Oh you will think of some thing I am sure
( both walk off together stage left each in an aside sings their thoughts)
Mortal: I normally wouldn’t go home with a stranger
Even as gorgeous as he is there’s danger
But I want him, so forget the warnings
And who cares about work in the morning
If I have a chance to get in his bed
Vampire: As soon as we get alone this kid’s dead
Song 3
(They enter a plush apartment hand in hand, there motions towards each other flirtatious and close the vampire kisses the mortal, a long deep kiss, when their lips part the mortal is panting)
Vampire (teasing): Are you tired from the walk
This neighborhood has long blocks
Make yourself at home my sweet
(boy heads to the couch, vampire in an aside)
He will be so good to eat
But look at him trusting so
Almost sad he has to go
Mortal: I can’t believe my luck now
I’ve met a great guy somehow
We talked all the way over
We’ve been talking since we met
We’ve really hit it off I’ll bet
That this is more than a fling
We might just become I thing
(vampire goes over to the mortal, and kisses him again, pulls back in an aside)
Vampire: Now’s the time go for the kill
I so want to drink my fill
Oh but when I see his face
He shouldn’t die in my embrace
I like everything about
Him, my love I do not doubt
But the more I love someone
The more yummy they become
And their blood is sweeter for
my lust and if I adore
them, and I will love the bite
this urge I just cannot fight
(vampire leaves in for the kill, kisses the mortals neck)
Mortal: I want you to know I love you
(vampire bites into his neck and the boy lets out a cry of pain, this last a moment than the vampire pulls away)
Vampire: This is something I can’t do
Song 4
Mortal: Oh my god, did you just, what are you?
Vampire: Oh no what am I supposed to do?
(vampire rises and begins pacing)
Mortal: You’re a vampire, (panics and runs for the door, the vampire grabs him by the arm) get away from me
Vampire: You think I can just let you go free
Mortal: You were going to kill me weren’t you
Vampire: Yes, and I still might have to
(vampire looks away, angry and unsure what to do)
Mortal: Why did you even stop anyway
Vampire: I didn’t want to go through, I, hey
( the mortal is crying slightly)
Mortal: What are going to do with me
Vampire: I’m not aloud to just set you free
Mortal: Because I know about what you are?
Vampire: Yes, I shouldn’t have let this get so far
Mortal: Let me go, I swear if you, don’t you (the vampire lets go of the mortals arms, the paces more)
Vampire: Hush, I’m thinking, (a look of an idea crosses the vampire’s face) I know what to do
Song 5 Be My Thrill A (the vampire makes a proposition to the mortal)
I did intend to kill thee
Just to drink your blood so sweet
But you manage to thrill me
And you I don’t want to eat
Though your blood would be so nice
And your neck I long to bite
However my lust is my vice
So my hunger I can fight
Ok mortal here’s the deal
Which might just work out quite fine
If you’re more fun than a meal
Then I might keep you as mine
So if you want to survive
Just keep me happy then you
Will get to remain alive
Or else you’re on the menu
Be my lover be my thrill
Keep me very entertained
Or else I will drink my fill
And will leave you body drained
The ice you skate gets thinner
Decide will you be my love
It’s better than being dinner
You’re what I’ve always dreamed of
Part B (the mortal angrily refuses then bares his neck to the vampire as if daring him to kill him)
love me or else that's the deal?!
and you expect me to kneel
and then beg to your slave
you are nothing but a knave!
'Be my lover be my thrill’
Hell I'd rather be your kill
And with my dignity die
Bare my neck and say good bye
so go ahead take a bite!
come on kill me out of spite!
do you think I'm scared of you?!
go on do what you must do!
Part C ( the vampire laughs then flirtatiously responds)
So this is how you behave?
Well I must admit you're brave
But please do not at this way
I only wanted you to stay
Be my lover be my thrill
Because I would never kill
Someone I love, I think its true
More and more with all you do
Because you so intrigue me
So why don't you try to be
My love, my thrill, my adored
Its me who kneels and implores
Please try to give this a chance
You and me and romance
I'm dangerous but that's fun
You won't regret when I'm done
Part D (the mortal gives into his desire for the vampire and accepts)
Sure, don't have much of a choice
anyway maybe its your voice
but something makes me want you
Your beautiful yes its true
You make me burn inside
My feeling I cannot hide
You've got me under your spell
I know this may not end well
I've got you under my skin
So I might as well give in
And I know I want you too
What am I supposed to do
Be your lover be your thrill
All right I will take the deal
End Act 1
