To get a jump start on tomorrows chat, lets come up with some ideas for how Daniel winds up at the IS.
Maybe Daniel decides to put up the Night Island for sale, lol, maybe he does it on craigslist! Since Armand, Lestat and everyone would never look at craigslist, they have no idea! But, someone at the Insane Asylum finds the ad and goes after Daniel seeing him as a way to capture Armand and the rest.
or,
Daniel meets Camille at the Night Island's bar. She tells him that she is very worried about her twin sister Cassandra who is a Talamascan and has disappeared. But, how do they figure she is at the IS, and where is it anyway?
or,
This was my first idea that I told Daniel I was working on, Daniel leaves with Cassandra from the Bahamas storyline. In this existing storyline they have just fought a lot of revenant vampires and in their last post they get a bit cozy together, lol and it kind of ends there. So, the idea is ya'll take up the story from the last post and then take a plane from Bahamas to the Insane Asylum.
I will post or rather, repost, the actual story here later today if anyone cares to read it.
My last idea, Daniel is still keeping contact with his mortal parents, I'm not sure if that's cannon, he receives a letter from them stating that his brother is missing. His brother is in the CIA, special investigative forces, maybe one of the Men in Black? Daniel asks Stirling for his help because he doesn't want to involve Armand in his mortal family's business, which of course he finds out anyway! His brother's name is Alexander Malloy, and he has already been used as Daniel's brother in the Bahamas, only there he was made a Lycan/Vampire.
So, there are my meager ideas, please post any you have here to further the chat discussion tomorrow at noon.
With each of these ideas Armand and Lestat can join in as rescuers looking for Daniel and helping to defeat the IS.

This is what I originally had in mind:
Danny is a bit unhinged and it's an Insane Asylum - of sorts. There's a link here. So I am thinking that he hears about it - not knowing what it really is - and god help him, he actually seeks it out. Big grin and a please. You don't even need to capture him. He's a gift. It is obviously not an innocent operation, but Danny is... unique.
He's hiding from Armand. I think somewhere remote like rural Wales. A damp stone cottage in the middle of absolutely nowhere, surrounded by sheep, mist, and a a couple of farms. He's hiding. Off grid.
One of those farmers, turns out to have retired there after working at the Asylum. Not as a doctor, not as an orderly, but doing something really mundane like re-routing the cameras, unclogging the drains or mopping the floors. This person has no idea what's really happening, only that it was a bit intense and a bit strange. Daniel is intrigued. He thinks it might be somewhere that can help him. Or at least, hide him.
Armand finds Daniel, providing an impetus to run. Daniel decides to check out the "Asylum" because Daniel is slightly mad. It sounds secure and it sounds like they might even know what he is! Maybe he can get immortal therapy! So he actually walks up to the door and knocks. He asks to come in. Secure him? Yes, please!
It isn't what he expected, of course, but it's complicated.
And now he really is off grid.
Armand will not be happy when he finds out.

Even if it was 10 years, I gotta say, the Bahamas storyline was one of the best ones we have role played.

Yes, the best by far! But we will bring it back! Just not sure how or when yet, Santino will also come back eventually, his anger is beginning to boil again!

While I realize that Armand will come into this storyline a bit later, I feel as if Daniel is having a little too much fun without me and would love to volunteer to play the role of a patient and/or nurse/orderly in the Asylum so I can join in sooner.
Is there anyone you think could benefit the story? I had in mind a supernatural patient with the power of invisibility to really mess things up, but I really hadn't planned out much more than that. Or perhaps Ole Jack could use a hand wrangling those who keep attempting escape? Maybe both?
Open to any thoughts or ideas, if you have them!

1. I was thinking earlier today we could use a ghost? Maybe an angry/sad ghost that died in the IS a long time ago but maybe he doesn't know he's dead? He thinks he's invisible and he is cause he's a ghost, but he thinks it's his powers.
2. I know in the book The Vampire Armand, he winds up feeding on his best friend, maybe Armand goes looking for Daniel and the power emanating from the castle it calls out his olds friends spirit who then haunts Daniel at the castle? Like, "Where is Armand...where is Armand...I know you know him!!!"
The scene in the book is a powerful one cause when he is done feeding on him Armand has to tear his best friends corpse and rip and squeeze it out of the cage, because the corpse is starting to rot. I think Santino put him into the cage. It's one of the saddest scenes in the book and I remember crying over it. lol
3. Also, you can join as any supernatural character, and create filler characters too. I have a revenant zombie vampire I tend to stick in here and there, I got the idea from AR's Interview with the Vampire. I can show you the piece I wrote if you wan to try that idea.
4. A young chap to help out ole farty would be nice too, maybe a young med student who took the job for college credits in anatomy.
5. I was also thinking we need a mad scientist, like Dr Frankenstein, only he performs horrible experiments on the captives/patients. I love the 2nd old movie Frankenstein, where Dracula finds the monster and wolfman and convinces the wolfman he is working on a cure. Like maybe our mad scientist could be working on a cure for vampires?
We do need captives as it would give Shinra and Daniel someone to write with.
As a reminder you can write any humans into the story to help the story along.
These ideas are off the top of my head, I know Cass will bring more in, she's very good at story ideas.
I hope those gave you ideas to work on.

I'm particularly liking these two. I thought if I did someone with the power of invisibility, it will give the other captives someone to interact with. Maybe he's been there a long time and is frequently forgotten or overlooked because the staff don't see him? Would that be okay with everyone else if I played him as if he's been there for some time? I don't intend to have him use this power for escape or anything like that. Not trying to create an impossible to find captive! Just thought it might be fun Med student is a great idea! I'm not great at villains, but someone in between who is doing this for school and may not be comfortable with the torture and such would work!

I love those ideas. I'm glad you are joining the IS storyline. We needed more flavor. Thank you!
Oh and I love the revnant vampire idea too. They could possibly come from the wooded area in the back amongst the dead bodies?

Ok, so write a piece where you can interact with Ole Jack? or maybe with Matt and Val to hire you on? If you can't find a spot to write yourself into, just make a new thread in IS like your apartment or something.
Or if you write in as the invisible captive, same difference, but a little more work since you have to develop their abilities, how they are gonna get captured, are they already captured and all that.
You can also write for both if you want.
To Cassandra, yeah I might insert the revnant vampire here and there, just lurking outside...

Just a side note; when the captives are going to be rescued maybe we can create a small horde of revenants to make it a little more challenging for our heroes?

They are more sadists doctors bent on torturing the captives. The mad scientist would be like the lead doctor trying to find a cure through experimentation. Just a thought.

I hope my into was okay. I'm going to go with the idea that Nigel has been a captive at the Asylum for a good 20 years or so; before most of the current staff even existed. I expect that some of the other captives don't even realize he's there.
If you have any questions about him or his powers, feel free to ask here or in the OOC thread. I'm making this up as I go along!

Twenty years ago huh? Damn, I thought for sure it was only two years ago! Ah well, I was always bad with numbers, time, math...whatever.

You've got it right, but I'm developing her as I go along, and I think I'm gonna make her a little bit zombie, a little bit vampire, and maybe a little bit witch, like maybe she is even older than the building. Maybe she was a young school girl and walking home from school one day some mean school kids threw her into the building as a prank and she couldn't find her way out and the things that lived there and in the surrounding woods got to her. Which would explain her insanity. That's why she refuses to do a real nurses job, because she's one of the patients who long ago escaped to come back as staff. Or, something like that.

Buildings like this are typically only 150/200 years old, but if you fancy erupting from a plague pit underneath it that could pop you back to 1665.

Yes, that's my thought, she doesn't know how old she is but when she disappeared she wore a long cloak and a long dress, she got lost in the woods due to a prank. No one ever liked her because she was awkward like Carrie from the Carrie movie, but she never developed her powers because she became insane due to all that happened to her. Eventually the insane asylum trained her to be a nurse because as a captive she kept escaping.
If it makes no sense I'm developing as I go along, also it doesn't matter since she doesn't really remember what happened to her, just that she has always been there and knows no other existence.

Maybe she is a nurse from the time of the black plaque, and she got accidentally thrown into the asylum while she was treating patients. From there a vampire bit her, but she didn't die not completely which explains the zombie part.

Ok, cool. That sounds like it would fit the 17th century - The Plague was specific to London in 1665. Much earlier and your awkwardness wouldn't be an issue. Poor women. Shyness was a positive boon in the 1300s! You'd have been popular for it. The Great Plague of 1665 killed 75,000 people - a quarter of the population. Still hard core stuff.

Yes, the black plaque fascinates me, and I love how AR put it into her stories.
I especially like Les Innocents and the Catacombs where the dead were placed because of the stench and filth of Les Innocents. By like I don't mean like, like, I mean fascinated by what people went through.
